Escaping violence paradigm of society vs adopting evils of the society

Picture this…..

Mahatma Gandhi Ji : Bharat Mata ki jai ho, how are you?

Bharat Mata : I am feeling like a victim who has committed a crime to be born as a girl

Gandhiji : Maa, what happened, it’s your day today. It is 15th august today

Bharat Mata : No it’s the day where twitter is trending with #justice_for_rape_victims. Do you give me this day where I see my daughters getting killed and assaulted for no reason.

Imagining the above said scenario is capable of driving any of the creatures to the darkest bounties of anxiety and depression. But the above said dialogue is coming close to the reality of today’s world. Women have been the prey of oppression since the time immemorial and this is absolutely justified by the fact that we need to advocate gender equality rights till now after zillions of years of human civilization. We humans have lost to confront the reality that the hands that rock the cradle often end up feeling vulnerable by the hands of the evils of society.

How women are becoming easy prey to crime in the world ? What holds them back to fight injustice ? How come this menace of crime against women be challenged? What should be our moral responsibility to condemn the social evils ?

Coming to the type of crime against women , quoting statistics of NCRB makes absolutely no sense as the data is miserable , it is depressing. The crime against women starts right away from the socialization, where gender sensitisation takes face of gender stereotyping and hence causes childhood trauma.

On reaching adulthood, the woman is told to restrict herself to the corners of the society rather than claiming the center stage as the stage belongs to the patriarchs of the society. Here patriarchy does not condemn the male section rather the whole fraternity of people who believe in camouflaging roles of the women. The woman is assaulted on the fact that period blood is the sign of impurity and hence subjected to many restrictions like not touching the kitchen things and not going to other’s houses. The women at  is also warned of the subject called “love” and why not to entertain so much of restrictions when most of the sextions of the  are haunted of the henious crime called – rape.

The crime against women doesn’t stop here till adulthood ; rather another storm of crimes starts from here, say dowry.

“JALTI BAHUEIN KAREIN PUKAAR,

BAND KARO YEH ATYACHAAR”

Every year thousands of women commit suicide  of dowry or accept divorce and post-divorce mental  as their destiny. The narrative of dowry has imposed such negative connotations on the society that people prefer to not give birth to a girl child, this justifies the case of low sex ratio in north india specially.

Another narrative of low sex ratio has emerged from the fact that north indians prefer the patrilineal setup and hence need a boy to carry on their legacy as their ghar ka waaris. Such has led to late marriages and further affecting the fertility of the states as the whole.

Looking at the old age of the women, the more life expectancy of the women than men has become a curse for the women who say low entitlement to the food and oppression by the upcoming generations in the name of modernity. Say people mocking the traditional looks and lifestyle of the old and distancing themselves from the former generation to flaunt their styles at the modern social media platforms. Such has caused a disgrace to the cultural outlook of the soviet where old people themselves accept their destinies the old age homes. Moving to the women’s health issues often the mental trauma becomes the foremost reason of their illness be it society or their own kids.

Moving to the mental arena of crime against women has more to do with the post modern society where women have been at the trajectory of the trollers on the online platform be it twitter, facebook or instagram. As put by the renowned sociologist, the women moved out of the closet to claim their share of equality and now the whole society has exploited her.

The women have been falling deep into the gaps of technology where women have been lagging behind leading to lopsided femtech which deprives them of broader themes say financial inclusion, sadly women are treated as lakshmi mata when born to a family but  as a  when it comes to her own financial independence.

Another devastating trauma comes to the picture when a woman loses her husband to an evil called death. It is not the death of jrr man that haunts her but the death of her own self. Sadly,  raja ram mohan roy has freed women from the curse of sati but society itself has not left any stone unturned to make a widow feel like a dead living.

Talking about the other oppression by the people over women for not bearing a child to the family that questions the womanhood of the women and leaves her dead from inside. The oppression of medical treatments further tears apart her mental health and looks out for the love from the emotionally dead woman. Excellent put up by the renowned author, “Stree aur lrithivi ko bohot kuch sehna pdhta hai.”

Finally, in a nutshell, the condition of women can be summed up as the powerful segments of society who are coming out of the closet to reclaim their share of freedom. They are no longer the easy prey, it is the society that has taught the women to fight for their own rights, thanks to their education. Really the education is the torch bearer for the women to become their own bread winner and claim their share of independence.

Happy Independence day to all the women out there who have been freed from the shackles of self doubt, trauma or crimes which social evil of the society has imposed on you.
