Creative Writing Olympiad

Eligibility:

Any writer irrespective of age, Profession, Gender, Nationality

Age limit: There is no age limit

Language: English, Hindi or Bangla
Registration Fee:
Level I – 200INR, Level II – 400INR, both Level I and Level II- 500INR
Nationality: Any nationality

Categories:

There are two categories:

Category-I: Essay, Story, Short story, Script, Letter, Debate, Spiritual contents etc. 

Category-II: Poem

Level I:

There is no theme, no fixed topics in level I. Participants are free to participate with their best creative writings. In this case you need not follow any particular topic as in the case of the essay contest where the topic is fixed by us. You can choose your own theme, where you are the expert. Here is the opportunity to show your writing skill in any form.

Duration: 1st October to 31st December 2023

Level I Result declaration date- 15th January 2024

Registration fee for only level I: 200INR (for Indian) 20$ (for international participants)

Prizes in Level I

  • First 10 winners will receive certificate signed by Chetan Bhagat (through post)
  • Total 100 prizes (10 Trophies, 10 medals and 80 other prizes in the form of books) in level I
  • All other participants will receive e-Certificate

Level II:

Registration opening date: 1st October 2023

Registration fee for Level I and Level II: 500/-

Submission Mode: Online-LIVE

Final Test will be held in the month of June 2024 —online LIVE exam with 3 writing prompts/topics. The participants will be given three prompts to write in 1hr and 30 min. Examples are (these are only examples)

  • Creative writing (story/essay/poem etc.) based on the given image
  • Creative writing based on given voice clip
  • Create a story form a given abstract

Test Pattern

  • Participants can choose their examination date and time form the given three options (slots) which will be conveyed later. If any participant misses the test because of some issue, they can give the test on the next available slot.
  • The creative writing Olympiad will NOT test any knowledge but only writing skill. The topic will not be such that you have to gather information or you have to be expert of that field. The test will be held only to check writing skill, imagination, ability to think-create etc. within a stipulated time impromptu. So you need take any special coaching/preparation for the test.
  • The duration of the exam will be 1 hours 30 min. There will be no invigilator. Basically participants will have 1 hr and 30 min to submit their contents through email after getting the prompts online just before the time slot.
  • The test will be held online. Participants are free to consult google or any book but the content should not be copied. Copied content will be rejected without any further review.
  • The very first step of review will be to check for the plagiarism.

Judgment criteria:

  • 20 marks for imagination
  • 20 marks for writing skill
  • 20 marks for overall content
  • 20 marks for relevance to the given topic/prompt
  • 10 marks for grammar
  • 10 marks for linking with readers/way of conveying idea

All the above winners (only 100) will receive certificate signed by Chetan Bhagat and the certificate/ Trophy/Medal or other prizes will be delivered at the postal addresses of winners. No delivery charges or no any extra charge will be asked for prize delivery. Only International winners have to pay the cost of the delivery of prizes (at actual) if they want their prizes at their country. eMedal, e-Certicate will me e-mailed to international winners. However, Cash prizes will be transferred through PayPal or Bank transfer to national/international winners. All other participants will receive e-certificate in their email along with gift vouchers. All other participants will receive e-Certificate

Guidelines:

  1. Level I: Participants can submit their entries in the form of essay, story, short story, script, Poem etc. or anything creative. There is no theme, no fixed topics.
  2. The minimum word count for Category I (Story, essay etc.) is 500 words
  1. There is no word limit for Category-II (Poem)
  2. The articles submitted by the participants will be published and the link will be shared. Based on the popularity of the article, participants will be rewarded suitably (ADDITIONAL SURPIZE PRIZES). So, participants are encouraged to share their published article as much as possible.
  3. Multiple registrations are allowed.
  1. Co-authorship is allowed. Prize will be fixed and need to share. Certificate will be provided to all.
  2. No plagiarism, no copy is allowed.

  2. Who (only those) does not have access of computer/laptop, they can send handwritten entries through email.
  3. The decision of JURY is final. No communication will be entertained, but be assured that the judgement will be unbiased with respect to any criteria.
  1. The copyright of the article will remain with the author. Selected contents will be published in the website with the name, photo and bio of the participants without the need of prior permission.
  2. The articles/poems will be published in Monomousumi.com/Weaver magazine Website.
