JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) and SAT(Scholastic Assessment Test) both are examinations to qualify you into the most prestigious colleges or universities. JEE scores will get you admission to colleges and other technical universities across India whereas SAT scores will get you admission to undergraduate courses in foreign colleges and universities in the USA, Canada, and even India.

In this essay, we’ll compare the level of difficulty of both exams, which is better to opt for and which is actually the test of your knowledge.

About JEE and SAT in short:

  •  JEE

JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains is a nationwide entrance test for undergrad degrees such as engineering, architecture, and planning in technical and engineering schools throughout India. The National Testing Agency is in charge of it. Each subject’s question paper differs in terms of the number of questions, curriculum, and marking scheme.

  •  SAT

The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is an international entrance exam used to gain admission to various international colleges and universities. The College Board is in charge of it. The SAT is of two types: SAT 1 and SAT 2. The former is for general programs, while the latter is for particular programs.

The difficulty level of both Exams:

The SAT is divided into two sections: evidence-based reading and writing, math, and an optional essay part. A candidate with adequate linguistic knowledge and quantitative skills can easily obtain an acceptable SAT score.

JEE, on the other hand, assesses applicants’ physics, chemistry, and math abilities. Because this test uses a negative marking system, applicants must be certain that they are marking the correct answer in order to obtain a decent JEE score. There’s only been a few students who have achieved a 100% score in JEE whereas there have been thousands of students who have achieved a perfect score in SAT.

In general, in terms of syllabus, stress level, acceptance rate, and the number of applicants taking the exam, SAT is considered easier than JEE.

Which is better to opt for?

SAT scores today will only make you eligible for a few institutions in India, however, SAT is what you should opt for if you want to get admission to foreign universities. To make it through SAT you should be able to comprehend high-level English as that’s what the exam is focused on.

JEE will get you admission to the best colleges and institutions in India. It focuses more on your maths skills than linguistic skills.

Now, it may seem like JEE is the better option for Indian students but it isn’t the test of your knowledge as we’ll discuss further in the essay.

Which is actually the test of your knowledge?

Let’s be real here, both JEE and SAT are not the tests of your knowledge.

Yes, they do test your academic skills but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is the test of your actual knowledge.

This whole plethora of entrance exams is not only meaningless, but also harmful. Because it is difficult for students to study for so many different examinations, they have to make a career choice early in their life, knowing nothing about the relative merits of the professions they choose. This leads to many years of dissatisfaction later on in life. In addition to that, their childhood is sacrificed at the altar of the constant pressure of coaching and tutions – often on areas that will bear no relevance in real life in the future.

SAT in this case is better than JEE as it isn’t just an elimination round for students unlike JEE  and also it is held around the year for students to re-attempt anytime whereas JEE is once a year examination and if you do not make it through in the very first attempt your whole year is wasted.

In Conclusion:

It’s up to the individual’s choice to choose whichever examination that suits their future moto. Both examinations are to get you admission to the world’s top colleges and universities if you score well. The difficulty level of JEE is considered higher than SAT.

SAT focuses more on your linguistic skills whereas JEE focuses on your mathematic skills. Both the examination have their fair share of pros and cons.
