Exploring Thailand: A 7-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Arriving at Bangkok

Start your vacation in Thailand by exploring Bangkok. Visit the Grand Palace to see the Emerald Buddha at Wat Phra Kaew and experience the amazing view as light shines on the golden structures.

Next, go on a cruise down the Chao Phraya River. Along the way, you can see numerous temples and visit the famous floating market. Hereafter, you can visit Khao San Road to get a taste of the local cuisine, explore the local markets, and indulge in Bangkok’s famous nightlife. 

Day 2 – Exploring the Ancient Ruins of Ayutthaya

The next day, head over to Ayutthaya. It is the historical capital of Siam and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Day 4 – Day Excursion at Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle

The next day, head over to Chiang Rai. There, you will find the spectacular Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), which is a culmination of modern art and traditional Thai architecture. Then, visit the Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple) to experience Chiang Rai’s culture and also the mysterious Baan Dam Museum (Black House).

After this, stop by the Golden Triangle on your way back. It is a border town offering breathtaking views and is surrounded by Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar on three sides.     

Day 5 – Spending a Day by the Beach at Phuket

On Day 5 of your 7-day Thailand itinerary, it is finally time to hit the beach. Head over to Phuket and relax on the beautiful beaches of Kata, Karon, or Patong. You can also indulge in a Thai beach massage, and if you are in the mood for some adventure, go snorkelling in the pristine seas.

Then, as it gets dark, you can experience the nightlife at Patong’s clubs, theatres, and bars.

Day 6 – Discover Paradise at Phi Phi Islands

Phi Phi islands are a tropical paradise featuring dramatic soft limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters. You can visit the famous Maya Beach and go on a sailing excursion, where you can swim with tropical fish among colourful coral reefs.

You can also spend a relaxing day at the Ko Phi Phi Don beach, enjoy a spectacular seafood meal, and experience the beautiful sunset.     

Day 7 – Kick Back and Relax at Krabi

Spend the 7th day rejuvenating at Krabi. It is a stunning Andaman Sea resort with beautiful limestone structures and clean waves. You can get some sun at the beaches, take a kayak ride through the mangroves, or even go rock climbing.

You can also explore Phi Phi Leh Island’s historic Viking Cave and the colourful coral gardens, both of which are just a boat ride away. Then, you can shop for gifts during the evening and call it a day by having dinner at one of the several excellent restaurants at Ao Nang. 

The next day, you can either head over to Bangkok and catch a direct flight back to India or take a round flight from Krabi itself.

Important Things to Know about Thailand Visa

If your trip to Thailand is less than 15 days, you can opt for a visa on arrival at specific airports. You can also speed up the process by applying for an electronic visa on arrival (E-VOA) via the VFS Global website before leaving for your trip.

Additionally, you can go for a pre-approved Thailand visa from the same website. The documents required for a Thailand Visa from Indians are as follows:

  • Passport with at least 30 days validity from the date of entry.
  • Filled visa application form.
  • 2 passport-sized photographs.
  • A copy of your Thailand trip itinerary.
  • Return or outward tickets.
  • Bank statements of the last 3 months as income proof.
  • A valid travel insurance for Thailand.   

Recently, the Thai government has made it mandatory for foreign tourists to have Thailand travel insurance in order to cover any unplanned expenses like medical emergencies, loss of luggage, loss of passport, trip cancellation, etc. that may come up during the trip.

While planning your 7-day Thailand itinerary, you also need to focus on the month. The best time to visit this country is from November to early April. During this part of the year, the skies remain clear, and the weather is just perfect for a day at the beach or exploring the country’s various monuments.
