Gold, blue, and green blending into one- that’s what Hawaii is. Endless sprinkles of gold in the pool of sapphire water, the gray dorsal fin flies up to the sky forming a gush of water like a water fountain. Colorful fish and corals gently swaying deep under the ocean reveals the underwater rainbow.  The salty air hovering the coarse brown crumbles on the ground- I am in a tropical paradise filled with unforgettable memories.

The sun’s golden rays turned the emerald ocean into a beam of rainbows. Rolling on the emerald ocean, the boat glided through the water’s surface, moving my body with the soothing rhythm of the waves. I could hear the dolphins squealing in excitement as I stepped into the ocean and threw fish and shrimp to lure them.

They jumped and rushed to grab the food, and at that moment we cautiously dipped our legs near the dolphins. As I slowly approached the dolphin sliding my legs onto its sleek back, I could feel my body stiffening up and my skin almost sliding off the silky dolphin’s back as it carefully glided across the serene sea. Clutching tightly onto the dolphin, I looked to the side realizing the water near me bubbling and swiftly flowing past, no longer being able to see the view around me.

I could feel my heart racing and my breath shallow as I clung to the dolphin, feeling the steady rhythm of its movements beneath me. I was immersed in the moment, feeling alive and the dolphin’s presence calming me down. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the ocean breeze on my skin and the gentle waves lapping against my body. I opened my eyes and looked around feeling a sense of tranquility, smiling at the cameras flashing at me.

As I embracedthe sense of calmness, a sudden burst of water collided against my face. I opened my eyesand was greeted by the docile waves and the vibrant colors of the fish forming a maze within the corals. I carefully let go of the dolphin and watched it disappear, then shifted my focus back to the breathtaking view. The fish and corals moved in harmony amidst the seaweed, while some swiftly swam away to elude the notice of their predators.

I took a deep breath, in awe of the beauty of the ocean and the animals that inhabited it. The sight of the concealed nature and the union within it captivated me, drawing me into the enchanting realm beneath the surface of the land. I attempted to get a better glimpse of the mesmerizing scenery by shifting my arms and legs, yet all I could behold was the pristine water. Returning back to the water’s surface, I eagerly anticipated the fish’s return, yearning for it to seamlessly merge with the surrounding nature again.

Upon the fish resurfacing, it was time for me to return to my hotel room. I brought myself up to the surface of the water, realizing that it was already dark. I showered and changed in a hassle, preparing myself to head outside again. As soon as I stepped outside, the aroma of smoky and buttery scents permeated the air, filling the streets.

My feet were irresistibly drawn towards the delectable smell, succumbing the temptation. Right in front of me stood a stand with glistening flows of oil dripping off and white and brown specks of snow-like glitter twinkling on the stand of churros. As I took a bite the sprinkles dissolved on my tongue, while the oil cascaded, enveloping every corner of my palate. The sweet, crunchy, and salty flavors melted in my mouth, leaving behind a lingering aftertaste of warmth and satisfaction. I reveled in the sensation, taking my time to enjoy every bite.

I felt my taste buds come alive as it tingled with excitement.  With a satisfied feeling, I continued walking. Noticing the heavenly white ski slopes layered on top of the crispy cones, my arms unconsciously reached out to grab one. Due to the warm weather, the ice cream began to melt allowing me to lick the creamy waterfall. The milky river tingled the tip of my tongue with excitement as I savored the last bite and the last night of Hawaii.

As thoughts of Hawaii cross my mind, a surge of thrill, enjoyment, and blissful paradise envelops me. Hawaii reminds me of the velvety texture of a dolphin’s skin, the harmonious interaction between corals and fish in the deep ocean, and the variety of sounds, sights, and culinary delights that are found in the bustling streets at night. The collision of memories and colors combine to create the essence of what Hawaii is.
