We live in a sophisticated era, an era where humans are being replaced by artificial intelligence or what is usually called AI.In this modern era, many jobs that were previously done by humans are now starting to be replaced by machines and automated systems. This can have a negative impact on the younger generation, worsening unemployment and also narrowing job vacancies. There are several factors that influence the shift of human work to AI, such as being efficient, not needing to be paid, and not needing rest, making AI a more profitable choice than using human labor.This raises concerns, but also opens up new opportunities for young people like me to explore alternative career options. There are many career alternatives that young people like me can take advantage of in this AI era.
One career choice that is increasingly developing is in the creative field, such as writer, painter or musician. We cannot deny that AI can produce works in the field of art like humans, but AI cannot replace human creativity, there is no feeling expressed in a work, or the results of AI’s work feel templated and not as extensive as the original work. man. We see many mistakes in works created by AI, whether due to a lack of soul, a lack of feeling expressed in the work of art, the shape of the image does not match the proportions of the body. And the works produced by AI are imitations taken from artists out there. Apart from creative fields, careers that interact with humans can also be an alternative career in the era of AI.For example teachers, doctors, psychologists and other social workers.
These professions require empathy, deep emotional understanding, and direct interaction between fellow humans. Even though there is a role for AI in it, it cannot be denied that the role of humans in the professions mentioned is still important, AI here is only a tool that makes work easier, not as a worker. In this case, AI can be used by teachers to prepare learning materials, provide ideas or suggestions for teaching and learning activities that are not boring. Why can’t teachers be replaced by AI? here, the role of teachers is not only as providers of material but they are also educators, who motivate, direct and guide students; This is different from what AI does. In my opinion, AI only functions as a material provider and cannot provide motivation, direction or educate students like a teacher.
The AI also follows too closely what is asked by the prompt maker and is too biased if it is said to replace the teacher in this case. On the other hand, the AI era also produces new opportunities in the field of technology itself. The demand for workers who have digital skills continues to increase with the times. Careers such as data analyst, AI specialist, and software developer are increasingly needed. It cannot be denied that these things can open up wider job opportunities.
People who have the ability to understand, develop and manage technology will have an advantage in the world of work.
Apart from that, a new profession has also emerged, namely AI ethicist, namely a person whose job is to regulate and ensure that the use of AI is ethical and does not have a negative impact on humans. Considering that AI users cannot be counted on their fingers and are not responsible in their use, this makes AI ethicists very much needed and can be a good job opportunity. Not only that, the field of entrepreneurship is an attractive alternative career choice in the era of AI. With advances in technology, someone can easily open a business with minimal costs and is easily accessible to buyers or service recipients.Widespread digital platforms allow business actors to reach wider and even international markets without having to have a physical shop.

Additionally, It’s also important to understand that not all jobs will be lost as a result of only AI. Many jobs will actually experience transformation, where humans and technology work side by side. The concept of collaboration between humans and AI is becoming increasingly important since we also need AI helps. For example, in the medical field, AI can help doctors diagnose diseases more quickly and accurately, but the final decision remains in the hands of doctors. Apart from that, there are also concerns regarding the social impacts of using AI, such as increasing unemployment, economic inequality, the ease with which hoaxes are spread; This is supported by the existence of AI which can be accessed easily and someone can change photos of public figures into videospropaganda, or the increasing number of cases of fraud with voice changing AI which can change a person’s voice to that of an artist or the family of the person being deceived.

Many people feel they have to always be productive because of the help of technology which allows work to be done anytime and anywhere. In fact, maintaining mental and physical health remains very important so that a person can work optimally in the long term. In this fast paced era, where the pressure to keep up with developments can also cause stress, especially for the younger generation who feel they have to always be up-to-date with the latest technology. Therefore, the ability to manage stress and maintain life balance is a skill that is no less important than technical skills.
A person needs to understand their limits and not force themselves to always follow all existing trends. Apart from that, the awareness of data security and privacy is also becoming increasingly important. As more and more activities are carried out digitally, the risk of data leakage and misuse of information also increases that make us need to careful on using AI. The younger generation needs to have a basic understanding of digital security, such as maintaining the confidentiality of personal data, using strong passwords, and not easily trusting information whose truth is not yet clear.
