Each successive age in the course of civilization has been born of revolutionary new ideas, and has been characterized by the implementation of those ideas. Science is known to be practical in nature. It’s main objective is to go to the depth of anything; do research, and ultimately find out the causes and consequences of everything. Therefore, science is always followed by reason. Study and practical implementation of science is regarded as a great gift to society. It is because of various new inventions and discoveries. In terms of inventions, there are various greatest inventions like that of printing press, computer, electricity, automobiles, DNA etc. But the invention of robots made a breakthrough in the whole human race. It is also regarded as an assistant or subordinate of humans. Simply, robots refers to the man-made machines that are capable of doing the tasks as per the programming. Their tasks range from simple things like cleaning to various complex tasks. The study of robots is termed as robotics.
Robots
Invention of robots has a great impact in the lives of the whole human race, society, along with various intellectual activities: be it in the educational sector, IT companies- to name a few. Robots possess the capability to do any kind of work under the influence of the programming set in their functions. Invention of robots, specially human – like robots proves to have an enormous impact in the lives of human beings. Robots, somehow, reduce the workload of human beings as they never get tired easily. They can work 24×7, and unlike humans, they need vacations or holidays. Thus, in this way, robots reduce a greater amount of time and energy. Moreover, they are capable of providing incredibly accurate and precise outcomes. They make less mistakes as compared to that of human beings. Also their quality of work is of high standard. Robots can also work in dangerous or hazardous situations and thus it reduces the risks of lives of people working in that sector. Robots or robotic devices are used nowadays in everyday lives, be it search engines or something like that. People use these things very often, and profit from it. Nowadays, the invention of humanoids is a highly advanced one. They can easily interact with human beings, and respond to the queries put forward by human beings or simply interviewers. They also possess human-like feelings and emotions.
It’s probable impacts in humankind
Nowadays, it is commonly heard that robots will become an active assistant of human beings in the near future. Previously, when the robot was first invented, they could perform the tasks as per the programming set in their process of making. But, with the due course of time along with advancement in the field of science and technology, robots now possess human-like qualities also. A robot can play the role of an assistant of human beings. In terms of working the household chores, a robot can do it well. Like humans, robots welcome their masters when they reach home. They can do the cleaning also, and can work as a reminder who reminds of the work that has to be done. Moreover, they can bring things from one place to another. In this way, a robot can be an assistant of humans in household matters. However, their capabilities are not limited to that only. They can work in factories also. They can do the things as per the order of the humans.
It’s role as an assistant of humans
As robots are multi talented, they can be highly beneficial if they play the role of an assistant. Humans can assign them various tasks, and can expect an accurate and less mistakes result from them. In this way, less time will be consumed and a lot of work can be done quickly. Besides, a robot will never ask for leave because they don’t get tired. A robot can also be sent to dirty or risky places, and moreover it will never complain about that. A robot can be assigned tasks in the education sector also. It will teach students in a new innovative approach. Other than the household and education sector, a robot can be assigned tasks in the companies also where they can perform the role of an assistant very well. Robots can help in the growth of productivity also. To get a work done where quick processing is required then robots should be preferred.
There are various kinds of robots. A few examples may include-
• Siri is commonly known as a helper that collaborates with specially companies like Apple
• Cortana is also a helping hand like that of Siri. It basically do the tasks like answering to the queries in search engines,
• Alexa is another contribution from AI ( Artificial Intelligence). Alexa is a household robot that helps in household chores of the owner. It do all the tasks very smartly
• Sophia can be called as a humanoid that can produce the expressions like the humans do, they can communicate and respond to the humans etc. In the interviews of Sophia, she talks to the interviewer almost like a human do, and answers all the queries very brilliantly. She is endowed with many human qualities that an article published on 30th November, 2021 states that she wants to be a mother. Sophia is regarded as the first robot citizen, and also the first robot Innovation Ambassador for the UNDP.
The pros and cons of robots are as follows:
Pros-
• They makes the work easier
• They can work even in hazardous situations
• They saved time and energy
• They provide more precise results than humans
• They can work nonstop without taking any kinds of vacation
• They can lift heavy things
• They increase productivity etc.
Cons–
• They may snatch away the jobs from humans as they work continuously without any kind of giving complaints
• They cannot feel human feelings and emotions
• They require energy charging to perform the tasks
• They are expensive
• They cause cybersecurity problems
• They make humans lazy and inactive etc.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that a robot can be an assistant of human beings, though there are both positive and negative impacts of robots in the human lives or the society, but if one makes the proper use of them, they can develop their works and take the world into the next level. From the past decades, it is seen how the use of robots in works proves to be useful as they can work the tedious and complicated works also. However, they need the supervision of human beings so it cannot be said that a robot can solely do work on it’s own. Like the coin, who has two faces, similarly the robots are like that.
