Have you ever realized during consumption many contents in social media is contains AI? Do you enjoy it deeply or do you hate it? Nowadays, there is so much AI content spread throughout all social media. AI was indeed created to make it easier for all users to think of something. However, with that ease, it can kill the creativity of content creators through a single click that changes everything. Creators today are often trapped in that convenience, where they create works, but those ideas are in the form of photocopied ideas from a machine. This time, we will discuss a phenomenon that is not just technical laziness, but can kill the intellectual creativity of future creators.
Furthermore, the impact of this intellectualism does not only consume the creator, but also spreads to other digital users, which we know as the AI Anomaly Brainrot phenomenon. This phenomenon occurs when a creator posts content that has no meaning, and from there, users consume meaningless content too often, which causes psychological damage to the users.
Why is this phenomenon called “Brainrot”? Literally, Brainrot means the decay of the brain. In psychological health, it is interpreted as a decline in cognitive function due to consuming too much useless content, a decrease in focus and concentration for users, and others. What are the characteristics of this brainrot anomaly? This anomaly’s characteristics are often associated with things that are local and easily recognizable. In this content, it is often linked to the absurdity or obscurity of content that is meaningless or even makes no sense. Creators often use visuals and audio in their content using AI to attract users’ attention in seeing something new on social media.
I will take an example like the *Tung Tung Tung Sahur* anomaly; this anomaly is associated with something like a slit drum being hit, and then this trend went viral during the month of Ramadan. In this very fast-paced era, creators post their content through social media, resulting in a booming trend that seems to attract a lot of people’s attention, even wanting to parody it as *Tung Tung Tung Sahur*. This is where the brainrot anomaly began and many anomalies have developed until now. Creators intentionally make themselves go viral with ideas created without caring whether their content has meaning or not. This is the origin of brainrot for users, especially for Gen Alpha who often consume this content.
Then I will take the problem of *Skibidi Toilet* content which was viral at that time. This was also the starting point before the use of AI Anomalies. The symptoms of bad impacts shown in Gen Alpha children are very worrying for their future state, such as many children who often imitate the style and speech of what they watch. This is what makes children prefer to parody it, but in the other hand, this is quite bad because disturbing their mental health. Children are less likely to have progressive thinking because they often internalize what they see.
Does AI have the potential to destroy creators creativity? In my opinion, AI certainly kills their ideas when creating work. It is true what people say, that ideas are expensive. However, with creators who do not want to go through the trouble of thinking about their ideas, they prefer AI to choose a more instant and effective path. With this, without realizing it, the intellectualism of the creators gradually disappears. Why is this so popular among creators today? With trends, creators prefer the path that users prefer. Like the *Tung Tung Tung Sahur* anomaly trend, the creator used the theme of a strange and scary figure that made this trend go viral in Indonesia. Not only in Indonesia, but this content actually trended globally, making it known among many children. Therefore, other creators use or copy this idea because, with this high market, it easily goes viral and there is no need to struggle to think of an idea. From this, we can see that the ideas used do not have a high price because everyone can make them.
It can be concluded that creators today have low personal branding, because the creativity they find is only a form of AI prompts that many people can use. From brainrot content, if they do not have ideas that develop from before, they will be left behind by creators who are far superior in creativity. Why is that? Because just copying and pasting the same prompt has a short term and will be killed if there are features that can detect AI, thus lowering the algorithm of the creator’s account.
Next, I will discuss what the characteristics of a creative creator are. It is fine for creators to use AI to make content, but only to use it as a form of finding references, not to copy AI data. It is better for creators to create their own ideas so that the content ideas have a high value. This means that people who want to copy the idea will think twice because it is not that easy to copy, or they will be subject to copyright infringement in an application they post. Not only will they be hit by copyright, but the algorithm they have worked hard for while creating content will be subject to a decrease in the algorithm on their account without them realizing it. Also, ideas copied by certain parties will be labeled badly by the users who see their idols being copied just like that. In a sense, creative creators will be far superior to lazy creators because they only use repeated prompts.
Good education from parents to their children is key. Parents must be firm in making decisions. For example, only allowing their children to use cell phones at an age that is ready to use them. Then, frequently engage in communication with their children to prevent bad things from happening. Parents can use the child mode feature to monitor what their children access.
Furthermore, ideas made by oneself are more human than those made by AI. In this case, human creativity is produced from a heartfelt view that touches users, for example, like a short film that has inspiration so that it touches many people. Meanwhile, AI creations tend to have no heart or feelings, so users can feel it when they see content containing AI elements. Imagine if all creators today used AI; everything would feel ordinary and boring because the ideas created are based on AI that can be used repeatedly. Even the creator could kill the intellectualism of their users or supporters by providing content that tends to have no meaning because they only chase virality without caring about anything else. With this, the innovation possessed by every human will just disappear, even though if this is trained, it has the potential to become a talent in itself. Unlike AI, AI is just a system figure that never has life experiences, like its attitude when it falls and its attitude when it rises; AI will never experience it because it is just a machine. Therefore, with creators who dare to learn from mistakes, it can form more advanced creators because they can learn from previous mistakes.
The Existence of Creators Amidst the Algorithmic Surge
The creativity of content creators have a emotional different with ai, With ideas they come up with on their own, they’ll think of things no one would expect. This is why AI can’t imitate humans. Because machines merely create things without taking human intuition into account. Without this connection, content is merely a pile of digital data that will be forgotten as soon as the user scrolls down.
This phenomenon of AI dependency also creates a standardized and boring aesthetic. If all creators use similar prompts, their work will be trapped in **visual homogeneity**. We will see the same faces, matching colors, and identical comedic patterns. This is what ultimately kills the public’s critical thinking. because we’re constantly bombarded with instant and fast-paced content, so our brains don’t have time to consider whether that content is useful or not
The biggest challenge for a creator is their own ability to tackle problems while working: whether they choose the easy way out or the hard path Being different is an act of bravery amidst the tide of “brainrot” that promises lightning-fast popularity. Smart creators will view AI as a tool. This means creators must have their own ideas when creating a work and shouldn’t just copy others.
So the resolution in this essay, technology definitely used to make easier, but as wise individuals, we must try to self-control so we aren’t trapped in our comfort zones. If you want a be a better person or more productive use your creativity to achieve your future goals. Don’t be afraid on failure and keep try harder and keep learning from mistakes we’ve made in the past. Ultimately people tend to appreciate our own work even if we consider it poor because to others, it represents our honesty and personal efforts, so it doesn’t bring shame upon ourselves.
