With a face unlock feature, the smartphone also supports an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, andproximity sensors.

THE BEAUTY OF THE SMARTPHONE:

  • Bigger Front Display: Using it as a phone (folded), Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 measures 159.2 x 68 x 16.8mm, and as a tablet (unfolded), it measures 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9mm, making it wider and slimmer than the Fold. To compare, Fold measured 160.9 x 62.9 x 15.5 mm when using as a phone (folded) and used as a tablet (unfolded), it measured 160.9 x 117.9 x 6.9 mm.

The four hinge customisation options definitely are a bonus. As compared to the first Fold, Fold 2 has redesigned hinges that allow the smartphone to be opened at different angles, all the while reducing the gap between the hinges and display.

  • Flex Mode: As discussed above, the improved hinges in Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 are one of the beauties of the smartphone. The customisable Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold hinges are a hit with the users, especially with the new quad CAM system in the Hideaway hinge.

The smartphone can be used in free-standing Flex Mode from 35 to 155 degrees. With Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, there is no need for kickstand cases.

  • Multitasking:With already brag-worthy multitasking features, it is no surprise that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 offers an adjustable split-screen feature. As Samsung claims, they have not just made the multitasking feature easier in Fold 2 but also more powerful.

In Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, users can customize the layout and size up to three apps at the same time. With its Multi-Active Window, multiple apps can be run at the same time. Multi-Window Tray offers the feature of saving up to three apps in combination with App Pair. Users can also use the drag and drop feature between apps! Even screenshotting multiple apps at the same time is made possible with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. And of course, Samsung makes it easier for users to switch between different UI layouts.

  • Battery Life: Samsung has offered all day dual battery in its Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. They have packed the power of two batteries into one long-lasting power source. A battery of 4500mAh. It also actively saves energy for a full day of use. The feature is certainly a bonus for users who have to be on smartphones all day long. The whole experience of a smartphone is improved with a good battery backup, and Samsung has not failed to deliver it.
  • Upgrade from the first Fold:From Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2’s GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE / 5G technology compare to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold’s GSM / HSPA / LTE / 5G technology to the added e-SIM feature in Fold 2, the Fold 2 is a sure upgrade from Fold. Providing a whole comparison of the upgrade Fold 2 has made from Fold would take another direction altogether. But it goes without saying Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is better and upgraded than Fold in more than few ways.

THE MISS POINTS:

  • Not Water Resistant: If it is pouring outside, it would be best to leave your Fold 2 indoors. Because neither Samsung Galaxy Z Fold nor Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 offer water-resistant technology. It is a bummer for most potential buyers. Given the price of the phone $2000, users were expecting water-resistant technology – but maybe next time.
  • Expensive: The phone is $2000, its price in India over Rs. 1,00,000! For an investment of that amount, the users are not going to buy it without a second thought. Though given Samsung’s reputation, it might be an expensive investment but totally worth it.
  • Storage: The biggest bummer perhaps was the storage in Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. For a price of $2000, 256GB storage seems too little. To top it all off, it does not have external or expandable memory. There are phones out there offering more storage at a lesser price. It might be a deal-breaker for some, while not for others. But it all comes down to if the pros of the phone outweigh the minor cons.
  • Weighty Device: Talking of weighing, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a hefty device. A 279 g smartphone is going to be felt in the pocket and when holding in your hand for too long.
  • Main Display Smudges:Even though the Ultra-Thin Glass of the Main Display has a better feel and is more durable, it smudges rather quickly. Even with redesigned hinges, the fold is still visible, although improved. Since its cover display is narrower than most smartphones, it can take time to adjust to it.

FINAL VERDICT:

Heavy on the pocket in terms of weight and price, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is still not a miss. Samsung never disappoints with its technology, and Fold 2 is no exception. With so many powerful features packed into one, the smartphone has a total futuristic feel to it. Being easy on the eyes helps too.
