Yogyakarta is a special and popular region in Indonesia, due to its rich culture, deep history, and natural beauty. There are many interesting places to visit when vacationing there.

One of them is the Yogyakarta Palace, which is the center of Javanese culture and a place to learn about local history and traditions. Inside the palace complex, visitors can see various artifacts, art performances, and charming architecture.

The city of Yogyakarta has distinctive buildings with a touch of cultural touch, typical Javanese ornaments that we can meet. With that Yogyakarta is nicknamed the city of Culture City.

Yogyakarta has a long history. Yogyakarta was the center of the Islamic Mataram kingdom and until now, it is still the residence of the Sultan of Yogyakarta. Keraton Yogyakarta, as the Sultan’s official palace, symbolizes Javanese power and culture. The city’s history is not only imprinted in historical buildings, but also in the traditions and customs that are still upheld by the people.

Yogyakarta’s culture is heavily influenced by Javanese spiritual and aesthetic values. Every year, various cultural festivals are held in the city, such as Sekaten, which celebrates the Sultan’s birthday, and the Yogyakarta Cultural Festival, which features dance, music, and other performing arts. These festivals not only attract tourists, but also strengthen the local cultural identity.

Next is Taman Sari, formerly a palace garden, now Taman Sari presents the beauty of architecture and a very beautiful pond.

Yogyakarta has many temples, one of which is Prambanan temple.  This temple was built in the 9th century and became one of the largest Hindu temples in Indonesia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The architecture of Prambanan temple is very unique, magnificent and delicate carvings make this temple one of the wonders of the world.  There can be watched the Ramayana ballet which is usually held several times a week. Not only Prambanan temple, there is also Prambanan temple which usually witnesses cultural arts events or ballet and Buddhist holidays, namely Vesak.

In addition to its culture, Yogyakarta also has stunning natural beauty ranging from mountains and beaches. One of the famous beaches in Yogyakarta is Parangtritis beach, a beach that stretches very wide with black pamis that adds to the exotic impression, the waves that blend with the beauty there. The right time to enjoy the scenery there is in the morning or evening, because we can enjoy the sunset or sunrise with its orange color.

There is a very crowded place visited by travelers, namely Malioboro, there are many kinds of merchandise offered. With the treat of an amazingly beautiful street view.

Mount Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It stretches across Sleman, the city of Yogyakarta, parts of Bantul.  From the summit, visitors can enjoy spectacular views and see the landscape of Yogyakarta from a height. In addition, tourists can also visit the Museum Sisa Hartaku, which stores items left after the eruption of the mountain.

Yogyakarta is also called the city of students because of the many universities there, there are a lot of students in Yogyakarta both from Java and outside Java.

No visit to Yogyakarta is complete without sampling its culinary delights. Gudeg, a dish made from young jackfruit cooked with coconut milk and spices, is an iconic dish that must be tried. Its sweet and savory taste makes it a favorite of many. There are also bakpia, pastries filled with mung bean paste or chocolate, which are popular souvenirs from Yogyakarta. Sate Klathak, a specialty satay made from mutton, is also a dish not to be missed when visiting the city.

Yogyakarta is not just about tourist attractions and cuisine, but also about immersive cultural experiences. Attending local art performances and festivals provides a deeper insight into the lives of the local people.

Wayang Kulit performances present epic stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata told through puppet shows combined with gamelan music.

Every year, Yogyakarta holds various art and cultural festivals, such as the Yogyakarta Arts Festival (FKY). The festival features art performances, art exhibitions, and various other cultural activities. Not only does this event attract tourists, but it is also a platform for local artists to showcase their work.

Visitors don’t have to worry about where to stay when they are in Yogyakarta because there are so many lodgings ranging from low budget to 5-star hotels, there are also many vehicle rentals to get around Yogyakarta. You don’t have to worry about where to go because Yogyakarta is supported by many means of transportation such as Adi Sucipto International Airport, Tugu Train Station, Jombor Bus Terminal, Trans Jogja Bus which is very comfortable to support your trip at a very affordable price.   

Yogyakarta is truly a must-visit place to experience the authenticity of Indonesia. With all its charm, Yogyakarta is not only a tourist destination, but also a place where every visitor can find peace and happiness.
