However despite knowing this, humans want to be Powerful.
Because at the end of the day
“Who doesn’t like Power? If anyone gets opportunity He would love to have Power”
There has been endless struggle & wars in the past for power; it is in the present & it will be in the future.
India
India was long ruled by Mughals , Dutch, Portugese & Britishers. When the Mughals came, their powerful rule was thrown out by the Dutch , Portuguese & Britishers.
Chiefly India was ruled by the British Empire. The British had ruled almost 3/4th of the world, the Power of the mighty British Empire can be understood from this that they ruled 3/4th of the world for so long.
It goes down as one of the most powerful & mighty empires.
However there was one Man who was more mighty than them. Who was simple yet defeated the mighty British Empire. It was none other than Shri. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhiji.
As such the efforts were going on to fight back the British Empire 1857 Revolt was one of the Major events & after that also efforts were made.
Indian National Congress & Mahatma Gandhijj
However in 1885 Indian National Congress foundation was laid which made the foundation for India’s Independence. Mahatma Gandhijj who became Barrister had gone to South Africa which was also ruled by British Empire. Gandhi ji had already taken up against the draconian British Empire in South Africa & vehemently spoken up & fought against it. However his method was very unique. He knew that the powerful British Empire, which rules 2/3rd of the world, can’t be defeated by violent struggle. He also knows that violent struggle will unnecessarily cost millions of lives so he opted for Non violence struggle.
How Non Violence Struggle defeated the Draconian British Empire?
It’s interesting to note that the most powerful Empire in recent history was defeated not by violence but by Non Violence Struggle. So it’s important to understand what non violence really means. Most people confuse it with Being a coward but that’s far from the fact.
So what’s Non Violence Struggle?
Non violence movement refers to not using sword for sword but it refers to replying Violence with non cooperation movement, fasting , civil disobedience, peaceful protest, filling up jails, fast unto death
Why was it used ? The Major Benefits?
The chief reason for using Non Violence Struggle for the fight against the Mighty British Empire was not to give opportunity for Britishers to declare that it’s Illegal. Albeit they have no moral authority to call it illegal because what they had done was illegal itself.
But still when you are fighting a long term battle it’s more important to move wisely & give the opponent least chances in your retaliation. Secondly, millions of lives can’t be put at risk without proper planning.
Thirdly Non Violence proves more powerful than violence.
Does Non Violent movement mean being Coward?
That’s the biggest misconception that many people have, especially in this day & age. Gandhi ji was totally against being Coward. He himself was a very courageous man.
His idea for non violence was not to accept injustice & keep quiet but to fight back firmly through non violence means.
One of the most misquoted phrase which is attributed to Mahatma Gandhiji was that “if someone slaps your right chick give your left chick ahead” however this was quoted by Gandhi ji from Bible while explaining his idea about non violence.
Never ever did he mean to be a coward & accept violence, he said violence should be only resorted as a matter of last resort. He used to give an example that “if a man is with his wife & kids & someone attacks them obviously he will retaliate.
What he meant is that it should be used as a matter of last resort in extreme conditions when no other option is available.
Contribution of Gandhi ji in uprooting British Empire
The Contribution of Gandhiji was not only in fighting for independent India but many people aren’t aware that he began his battle in South Africa against the British Empire. Secondly his fight for Independent India made Britishers very weak. Most people only attribute this to the 2nd world war but that’s not entirely true.
Yes after the 2nd world war Britishers did become weak but had Gandhi ji not fought his battle they would have easily ruled for another 30-40 years easily.
It was the famous Quit India movement which forced the Britishers to quit. And there were endless such movements which created momentum against Britishers & uprooted them ultimately.
There were many other great leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ji , Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji & many more which supported him in his struggle but all of them had unanimously accepted Mahatma Gandhiji as their leader.
This independence struggle made Britishers weak & led to their greatest defeat.
Bangaladesh
It was part of Pakistan known as East Pakistan which was undergoing turmoil. The people of East Pakistan were against the oppressive government & torment which was inflicted upon them. They were protesting & movement was going on. Because the people from there were coming to India to seek refuge the then prime minister of India Indira Gandhi ji had to intervene & with the help of military action east Pakistan became an Independent state & a new country named as Bangladesh was created.
Recently Sheikh Hasina’s long time standing term as Prime Minister was thrown out of Power by revolt. So there’s constant change of power, there’s no permanence of Power.
Sri Lanka
In 2022 the revolt against the Government forced the government to leave & vacate the office.
Nepal
Recently in 2025 there was a revolution against the Government & Gen Z protest forced the government to leave the office.
When the government keeps tormenting its people now the time has come when people take it upon themselves to change the government.
It’s a return to the old times. It’s a myth to think that any oppressive government can rule forever except for a few exceptions like China , North Korea where there is no democracy.
Palestine & Israel
It’s one of the worst Oppression of people as Israel was created on Palestinian Land. Which was the result of the Zionist lobby of the USA. The problem isn’t that Israel was created, the problem is the non stop war & oppression of Palestinians which is going on from 1948 to till date. Israel isn’t instrumental only in Torture of Palestinians but many wars. Last year it attacked the Iran 12 days War which Iran won & recently in cooperation with the USA it has launched a new attack on Iran. The war is still going on as we speak.
Israel & USA attack on Iran the Ongoing War
The Zionist lobby which is the strongest lobby in the United States of America has yet again imposed a new war. This time its attack on Iran in collaboration with its allies Israel. Israel & USA are two separate countries on paper in different Regions but both are under control of Zionist Lobby in matters of International Relations & Politics.
So this new attack on Iran by Killing the Iranian President Khamenei the thought was that there will be regime change. The protests were going on in Iran from past sometime & by killing Khamenei they thought in some days there will be a regime change.
However that didn’t happen & infact Iranian people became united. Iran was expecting this war for 2 decades & it was preparing for it.
Iran is fighting back & using its right to self defence. The fight back by Iran has shocked the Zionist lobby. The most unfortunate part is because of this war innocent people of the whole world have to suffer.
It has actually made the position of the USA weaker in International Politics. People of the USA aren’t happy about this needless War. The whole world is paying the price of this unwanted war.
Benjamin Netanyahu has been telling since 1995 that Iran will be a nuclear power state in a few years & it’s 2026 still the same reason is given.
The Irony is Israel & USA both are Nuclear Power states & they are attacking another country for allegedly empowering itself with nuclear weapons. Albeit officially Israel doesn’t accept nor reject the claim of being a Nuclear Power state. But it’s widely believed it has Nuclear Power.They have the moral authority to ask this first when they themselves destroy their nuclear weapons. The USA has already used it once on Hiroshima & Nagasaki in Japan.
Even if we forget about this but take any country in general. The Non Proliferation Treaty is unfair because it only controls & stops non nuclear power states to get nuclear power, can it stop powerful Russia , USA & China. The answer is obviously NO.
So technically all other non nuclear power states are living on the Mercy of Nuclear Power states & it’s unfair. Ideally speaking, all nuclear power states should also be forced to destroy their nuclear power weapons first. However, that will never happen.
Russia & Ukraine
The Russian attack on Ukraine has been going on for the past 4 years , the war has still not finished, however the beautiful country of Ukraine has been dismantled into broken homes & buildings. However Ukraine has shown great fighting spirit to fight back against Russia that too for such a long time. The war which was supposed to end in 3 days has been going on for four years.
This has weakened Russia’s position in International Politics.
Conclusion
In this essay we observed the Need of Power & change of Power. We saw how the powerful British Empire was uprooted by Non violence struggle. We also saw some of the latest revolts which brought regime change in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Nepal. However there are some countries with no democracy like China & North Korea where such things haven’t happened & seem impossible. We also saw some ongoing wars & its impact on International Politics. Regime Change won’t happen if the Ruling government will Rule for the benefit of people. May better sense prevail in those who are at the helm of affairs & may they work for the benefit of people instead of oppressing them.
