India is a country which one can say is one of the richest in terms of practicing traditional activities.  In ancient times and even today they are widely followed. All the traditions are not just rituals but a feeling somewhere in every Indians heart. From Kashmir which is called the ‘Heaven on Earth‘ to the Tiravalluar temple in the south, from the natural beauty of the Konkan region in Maharashtra in the western region of India to the Howrah Bridge in the great state of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in West Bengal .

India has attracted so many tourists from within the country and also from the international community. More than these there are still a lot places under construction which would definitely get a lot of visitors in future. Heritage places and places of national importance like the ’Statue of Unity’,  which is made on the banks of the Sardar Sarovar dam in Gujarat and the ’National War Memorial’ which are constructed by the government of India in the vicinity of the India Gate, New Delhi are some places which are a must visit for every Indian. Also the proposed creation of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at Indu mills, Mumbai.

The monument is named after great Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which is named as ’Shiv Smarak’. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the founding father of the Maratha empire is hugely followed by the youth of the entire nation for his braveness and his aggressive attitude of not surrendering against the Britshers. His entire life teaches us a lesson of living a disciplined life, respect our elders and most importantly live with a feeling of brotherhood towards the fellow citizens of different religion, cast, creed and culture. The most important highlight of the memorial is that it will be constructed on a manmade island in the Arabian sea. It fells so exciting even to imagine how I will be walking on the island on the sea to reach the memorial. The other highlights of the memorial include the height of Shivaji Maharaj’s Statue which will be 212 meters (696ft) along with the pedestal. The completed site will have so many places to see , some of them include a memorial garden, a library, a food court, a convention centre with room for ten thousand people and will also include visitor center buildings. The memorial will also have an exhibition gallery, an amphitheater, a helipad, a hospital and a museum too. It will undoubtedly be too much enthusiastic to see a numerous places at a single destination make it my dream place to visit.

This is a dream project of the Government of Maharashtra.  The initial cost of the project was estimated to be around a whooping Rs.4000 crore (US$560 million), but cost reduction measures have resulted a contract worth Rs.2800 cr (US $390 million). The reduction in the initial cost due to the use of cost reduction measures also displays the mastery of India in the field of infrastructure development and construction management. The monument will definitely attract tourists from all over the country and all around the globe. It will create job opportunities for the locals and will also help state to generate impressive revenue. The most special attraction for me to visit this destination will be to see the replicas of the forts which were won and established by Shivaji Maharaj.

The Shiv Smarak has everything that makes it my dream place to visit. This memorial is planned to be made open for the people by the year 2020-21. I wish to visit it as soon as it is inaugurated. The experience of learning so many things at a single destination will be very special to me. The statue, garden, museum, and the replicas of the forts will be my must visit destinations at the memorial. I think the garden will be the most beautiful of all and also the statue. The feeling of standing on the island will be like standing on water, it would be something which cannot be described in words. I wish to visit it as soon as possible.

Just like so many I am also a huge follower of Chhatrapati  Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. Ambedkar, It would be a very memorable moment of my life whenever I get to visit the Shiv Smarak with family and friends. To feel the bravery through a beautiful place would be a great experience.
