Shri har Krishan Sahib ji was born on 7th July 1656 at Kiratpur, Dist. Ropar in Punjab. Guru ji were the 8th Guru of Sikhs. Guru ji,s father was Shri Guru Har Rai Sahib ji, the 7th Guru of Sikhs and Guru ji’s mother was Mata Kishan Kaur( Mata Sulakhni ji). Ram Rai was Guru ji’s elder brother. Guru ji were the youngest son of Shri Guru Hr Rai Sahib ji and Mata Krishan Kaur. Shri Guru Har Krishan Sahib at the age of about 5 years , were declared the 8th Guru of Sikhs. The act inflamed Ram Rai ji with jealousy and he complained to Emporer Aurangzeb against his father’s decision. Shri Har Krishan Ji were the youngest Guru of Sikhs also known as Bal Guru. Emperor replied in his favour issuing orders through Raja Jai Singh to the Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji as Emperor Aurangzeb was not pleased to hear about growing popularity og Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji. He asked Guru ji to visit his Darbaar ( Court) at Delhi. At first Guru ji were not willing to travel to Delhi, But after repeated requests of his followers and Raja Jai Singh, Guru ji agreed to the trip. Guru Har Rai ji passed away on 20th October 1661. Guru Har Krishan consold the disciples. Guru Ji asked them not to give way to despair but abide by will of almighty. All should sing the praises of God and not to weep.All disciples were delighted to have asight to guru ji.
Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji went to Delhi and stayed in the Mansion of Raja Jai Singh ji(now known as Gurudwara Bangla Sahib ji).Gurudwara Bangla Sahib ji was erected at the place where Guru ji stayed during their visit to Delhi. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib ji was constructed there in the memory of Shri Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji. Guru ji started imparting Sikh instructions at Delhi, which was in the grip of smallpox epidemics in those days. While serving the suffering people from epedemics, Guru ji himself seized with high fever. The sear attack of smallpox confined him to bed for many days. Shortly befor their death, realizing gravity of the situation, Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji callerd their mother and told her that his end was drawing near. Guru ji were in crinical state.Yet they did not fail to carry their important responsibility before they left the mortal world. Guru ji said “Baba bakale”. He meant that the next Guru would be found in the town of Bakala. That were Guru Teg Bahadur Dev ji, the 9th Guru of Sikhs. After Guru Har Krishan Sahib ji, 9th Guru of Sikhs were Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji. In the last moments Guru ji wished that no one should mourn him after his death and told everyone to sing hyms of Gurubani.
Tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji paying tribute to Guru Harkrishan Sahib ji stated “Va Shri Bhagoyi Ji ki”….. “ Let us thik of the Shri Guru Harkrishan Sahib ji, whose sight dispels all sorrows….”
