The JEE Main is one of the important examinations that offers admission to the candidates in Engineering and Architectural Courses. Through this exam, candidates can also get admission in various IIT and NIT Institutes as well. From 2019 onwards, the JEE Main was conducted by the National Testing Agency and the same organization will be conducting the JEE Main. A lot of changes has been made in JEE Main 2019. However, these changes will remain the same for JEE Main 2020 as well- says the HRD Minister, PrakashJavadekar in a press conference.

Some of the Changes That Will Remain the Same in JEE Main 2020 are-

  • The JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • The JEE Main 2020 Exam will take place twice in the year- January and April 2020.
  • The JEE Main Exam will take place in a period of 4 to 5 years so that the candidates will beable to book the slots for the exam.
  • The Entrance Exam will take place Online, which is the Computer-Based Test.
  • Introduction of the Practice Test Centers. This will help the candidates to get acquainted with the exam and its pattern.

The Benefit of conducting JEE Main 2020 twice a year, is that the students can try their luck two times in a year. Which means, that the candidates can be able to take both the exams? In this case, the methodology of selection is on the basis of the best performance. Therefore, if in case, the candidate attempts both the session exams, then the best score will be counted.

JEE MAIN 2020 Predictions

Here, we have listed out some of the predictions for JEE MAIN 2020, which includes, the registration, increase in the number of seats, diversity etc.

Number of Applicants Appearing for the Exam

In the year 2019, around 9.65 lakh candidates had registered for the exam out of which 8.5 lakh candidates have appeared the exam. This was because of the overlapping of the JEE Main dates with the Practical Board Exams. Therefore, in JEE MAIN 2020, we are expecting a slight increase in the JEE Main Registration and the same scenario in the dates overlapping.

Increase in the Enrollment of Female Aspirants

As per the reports, it has been found out that, the percentage of the enrollment of the female candidates have been increased by 29%.

Therefore, for JEE Main 2020, we are expecting the same bar of increase in the enrollment of the candidates and number of female candidates appearing for the exam. Thus, as per the directive, it is expected that female enrollment will be increased from 17% to 20%.

Gender Diversity in the Engineering Colleges

Earlier, the Government had issued a directive so as to increase the gender diversity among the engineering colleges across the country, which was highly dominated by the male candidates. Whereas, the NIT also issued a directive to increase the female enrollment in B.Tech Courses.

The decrease in the Number of Seats

This year, the AICTE has reduced 40, 000 seats in all the engineering colleges. This decision has been taken after seeing the lack of negligence and the seats remaining vacant in the various State-Government Colleges. Around 50, 000 seats were vacant last year. Therefore, the AICTE has reduced the number of seats in Engineering Colleges.

Increase In Number of Test Practice Centres

In the year 2019, the Government introduced the facility of the test centers. Around 3500 test centers were launched across different states and other rural areas. So, candidates can enroll themselves and practice the new format. So, in JEE Main 2020, we are expecting more Test Centres to be launched.

The HRD Minister has announced various changes in JEE Main. However, we are expecting other changes in JEE Main 2020 as well. The updates will be announced soon. We wish all the candidates a best of luck and prepare well for the examination.
