A significant environmental problem that occurs in Indonesia is environmental pollution, such as carbon dioxide gas, factory smoke, steam power plants, etc. Lately, people have started talking about electric cars, are they better or have the same impact on the environment as conventional/gasoline cars? Even now electric cars are increasingly popular and have the potential to become an alternative for future transportation, besides oil-fueled cars (BBM). Why? Because electric vehicles use renewable energy which can help reduce fuel use and are more environmentally friendly. Renewable energy is mandatory, given the current environmental conditions and the impact of global warming.

In the last year in Indonesia, there has been an increase in the sale of electric cars, electric cars are considered environmentally friendly vehicles because the emissions they produce are smaller than conventional cars, according to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, CO2 emissions produced by pure electric vehicles are only 0-5 gram/km. Carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the combustion process of a Steam Power Plant (PLTU) produce harmful fumes such as sulfur, NOx, particles, and dust. If these materials exceed the normal threshold, they can cause respiratory tract infections, and acid rain, and are carcinogenic. You can buy used cars in el cajon in cheaper price with a lot of options.

Electric car emissions are inversely proportional to the CO2 emissions produced by conventional cars, which reach 125 grams/km. In addition, electric cars also produce fewer PM 2.5 pollutants than conventional cars, namely 11-13 percent. Electric cars also contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.

Electric cars and ebike scooters have several advantages, from what I can conclude that electric cars can reduce air pollution because conventional fuel cars produce CO2 and CO emissions which are bad for the environment and human health. This is exacerbated because the number of conventional vehicles is increasing so air pollution is also increasing. In contrast to conventional cars, cars with electric technology are made without exhaust because electric cars do not produce exhaust gas. from the various studies that I have summarized, one electric car can reduce air pollution by about 4 metric tons of greenhouse gases. In addition, the convention that gasoline-powered cars are taken from petroleum cannot be enlarged, so their number continues to decrease.

Electric cars also play a major role in reducing noise pollution, because conventional vehicles generate noise on the highway which often disturbs the comfort of vehicle users. Unlike the case with electric cars, we don’t have to worry about vehicle noise when driving on the streets. Electric cars are known for the quality of the engine which makes almost no sound at all. The other is about easy and economical car maintenance for the long term, such as conventional car maintenance that must be done regularly, especially to care for oil spark plugs, radiators, and others.

This is the advantage of electric motorbikes, namely easy and cheap car maintenance. Electric car users only need to replace the car battery and maintain the brake components. Then the price of electric cars is still more expensive than conventional cars. However, these expenses are only calculated at the beginning. Electric cars do not require gasoline so that the car can be used, so of course the operational costs will be much reduced.

These are some of the reasons why many people say that electric cars are much better than cars that use fuel oil (BBM). However, it should be noted that this does not make electric cars fully environmentally friendly, because in reality there are other environmental problems that await amid the rise of electric vehicles. Some people also argue that the source of electricity from thermal power plants for charging batteries has the potential to produce emissions from fossil fuels. According to many people, if power plants still rely on coal, it’s the same.

Apart from the power plant, other potential environmental problems also exist in the process of making electric vehicle batteries because metal and mineral mining can cause damage and environmental pollution, even when the batteries are recycled, they still have the potential to produce wastewater and emissions. This is because lithium batteries consist of a casing, anode, cathode, separator, electrolyte, and other toxic components. Lithium batteries contain heavy metals and toxic organic compounds. Improper disposal of lithium battery waste can cause environmental risks, adversely affecting animal and human health, and potential environmental problems stem from the electrical panels of post-discharging electric vehicles. Even this has the potential to become E-waste if not managed properly.

However, back to each of us, because environmental pollution in my opinion is not about what goods are used, but about who is using it, for example, a smartphone, can have both bad and good effects depending on who uses it, we can actually only reduce pollution. cannot erase or even clean up from scratch, because life goes on, and the world is getting more advanced, there will be more and more new inventions which of course will go in a better direction, but behind all that will also increase pollution or environmental pollution.
