Have you ever been stuck at the airport?  If you are a frequent flyer, then the chances are you probably had an experience delayed flight or even the worse, cancellation (which are conveyed hours after).

A long stopover at the airport is always frustrating. But, don’t you worry the next time, as here in this post, we’ve put forth eight ways to beat the airport boredom.

#1 Reanalyse your Trip Plan

With extra time on your hands, use it thoroughly to plan or rework your trip. Whether you’re headed for a business tour or a solo vacation, it is always good to know what’s on the agenda, and where & when you need to be each day.

Just about every airport has FREE public wi-fi Internet access, make the most of it to plan the sights you are going to, and the different places you are going to eat. Whereas, the corporate guys can make last-minute changes to their presentation.

So, rather being annoyed and frustrated,  be optimistic and keep your mind occupied.

If you have a phobia of flying or an anxious first-time flyer, you’ll feel nausea during the waiting time as well. Therefore, it is always advisable to first overcome your fear of flying before you board the plane. These days there are several online short courses to join and beat the fear.

#2 Window Shopping

There is always a great variety of stores to browse at the airport. Visit one or two premium stores, do some window shopping, and time will pass well-before, you know.

There is a red flag, don’t fall for shopping as the airport shops are 20 to 50% pricer than the local market.

#3 Make Friends

The airport is the best place to connect with people of diverse nationalities and cultures. So, if you’re waiting at the airport lounge for a delayed flight, make an effort to speak to someone who is in the same position as you are. And, you never know, you might end up finding friends for life.

#4 Watch a Movie

With OTTs like Netflix, Amazon, HBO, etc. offering on-demand movies and web series, so why not watch a flick at the airport. A two-hour film such as Hangover and Tom Hanks The Terminal will keep your mind away from the flight anxiety.

All you need is a smartphone, good WIFI connection and a pair of good noise-cancelling headphones for a great movie time.

#5 Enjoy Food

There are generally many types of restaurants at the airport. So, you can pamper your taste buds with some appetizing snacks and drinks.

However, remember you have a flight to board, so avoid heavy stuff that may make you feel nauseated during the flight.

#6 Sleeping Pods

I’m sure you probably are thinking of taking a nap while waiting for your flight, but believe me those airport chairs are seriously uncomfortable, and hours later, you might have a bad back.

There is a solution, modern airports worldwide have designated sleeping zones and pods that you can book for a nominal fee. But, if you’re going to sleep at the airport, make sure your luggage is safe & close by.

#7 Have a Drink

Feeling stressed about your big business tour and flight delay has further added to the anxiety. Right?  Then, a glass of wine or beer will soothe your mind and soul before boarding the flight.

However, if you don’t drink, try a mocktail flavour or two to keep yourself relaxed during the waiting time.

Conclusion

Waiting at the airport for hours can be annoying, especially if you already have a fear of flying. But, with a little creativity, you can turn this boring time into a fun time. These seven tips are a great way to start.
