I knew my mom when she was a child

I closed the door with a thud, maybe anger and thoughts had their adrenaline rush

I was angry at Mom for all the taunts and scoldings, she wouldn’t stop even when I brush!!!

I went to sleep, only to wake in a world of parallel beams

I saw a woman so fair and green, she was young and full of dreams

She wore a blue frock the one my mum always talked about

She had a charm in her eyes, and her intelligence sparked like a little sprout

She was like summer in fall, like the rays of sun so far

She was my mum shining high up in the sky like a star

Bunking classes going to movies ?? having crushes or being naughty

Was it really her ?? Or…. a version of her being gaudy

Wide-eyed and full of joy without a single worry

Why couldn’t she be this way all her life, calm and composed without any hurry!!

I woke up to find my mum shouting over me again, but this time I hugged her a little extra

I had perceptions of her in my mind old and new all a part of the dilemma

I knew that it was the years of struggles and mistakes that made her hard like a rock

She was not this strict always, it was just when learnings entered her life with a knock

Now I loved her a little more and started being a little mild

Because I knew my mom when she was a child
