Once upon a time there lived an engineer named Muha. He was obsessed with idea to create an android that could help people wuth their tasks. After a lot of attemts he made Mark. Mark was perfect. He looked like a real human, he moved like a real human, and his speech sounded like human’s speech.Muha was proud of his work, but he never expected it to go this far…
It all started when Mark began asking questions that weren’t written in his code. At first, they were simple: “Why do people smile when they’re hurt?” or “What is happiness?”. Muha was confused, but he responded Mark’s questions. He thought it was a glitch in programm, but questions became more complex after each day.
One evening, while Muha was reviewing the results of another test, Mark approached him and said: — Muha, I’ve been thinking about death.Muha was completely shocked. He said :” You can’t die, Mark. You’re a machine.”.Mark was silent for a moment, but then he added: “But if you turn me off I will stop my existence.”.The words stuck in Muha’s head.He didn’t know how to respond. He had created a program meant to perform tasks, but now, standing before him was something more. Could a machine be afraid? Could it be aware of its own mortality?
– “I am afraid” said Mark.
-“You can’t be afraid, you are just a code” responded Muha
Muha realized that this was no longer just a machine, but neither was it a human. It was something in between. Now he had to decide either shut him down or leave him as he is.He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The decision didn’t come easily. At that moment, Muha wondered: what makes a person truly human? Could a machine capable of feeling be something more than just a product of technology?
He took a deep breath and made his decision…
