Essay is shorter than a research paper it is normally less than 1000 words whereas research paper normally consist of more than five pages which are researches from different sources and are factual.
An essay is where one gets to make the outer world or the reader understand their opinions, point of view or in short I can generally say this is where a writer gets to raise ideas or points which are in line with topic given or assigned. It allows issues to be raised and this issue is what the writer considers to be right or what the writer wants to be taken into considerations.
While research paper allows the writer to write only things which are factual and the writer does not include his personal views or opinions regarding a certain assigned topic. What the writer put down into the paper is actually what he or she has researched on. This type of writing requires referencing.
Normally in essay writing it is done to see the writer’s capabilities in terms of writing and use of certain words while Research papers main use is to get more information or to be learned, it requires a topic to be researched on. An essays structure is the title, introduction, body and conclusion while research paper has the acknowledgements and references which are not included in the essay.
When writing an essay you choose your type of style and formatting while on research paper the writer has to compare different sources in order to bring out factual findings. This also includes combining and assessing your information before actually putting out the final piece.
When writing a research paper the time taken is more than the time taken when writing an essay, because information collected from different sources need to be compared and this requires a lot of reading and understanding since the writer has to know what they are actually researching on, unlike an essay where a writer can put out or pour out their feelings in a paper without researching.
Unlike an essay a research paper provides the reader with the problem and solution. All the information is given because there is no word limit unlike an essay writing which is mostly limited to a maximum of 1000 words. Essays can be classified as descriptive, argumentative or any other type based on the essay topic while a research paper is not classified must also contain the analysis, the effects, cause and the solution which are normally not included in essay writing.
An essay is best for creativity unlike a research paper. This is because all different styles are to be used and most of the time essay reading is more enjoyable than a research paper due to the creative style used while a research paper is good for educational purposes, it may not be enjoyable when reading unlike an essay because it is only limited to facts but when reading a research paper you are sure to gain new information. This is why it is regarded educative.
Research paper is time consuming since it contains a lot of information, requires a lot of proofreading and it requires that all the information used, it should be fact which has been discovered by many people.
I think essay writing is one of the best ways of relaxing, because you can you can read an essay over and over again without getting bothered but nevertheless research papers are also worth reading or doing because this is where your reading skills, research skills are actually challenged. This is where one can proper ways of combining information in order to be presentable.
If one wants to be a genius then I think research papers are the best, since one is always updated with certain topics or they are already learned and this helps them in problem solving. Since they already know the cause, effect and solution.
Even when the research paper has many advantages compared to an essay but it also has many disadvantages, not all the information you get is going to be accurate since some of the data you get may be people’s opinions.
Also collecting data is very tiring because it is not everybody who is willing to help you when collecting data, data in form of interviews and questionnaires. So one may end up quitting or not enjoying doing the research.
I stand with research paper because looking at the world we are living in gaining new information is important and helpful.
