Entertainment in today’s modern world is really a challenging show business since meaning of Entertainment has completely changed as compared to its early blooming period. In olden days for entertainment people use to gather at a place sing devotional songs and played instruments that mesmerized their mind and soul, they enacted dramas related to God & Goddess, moral values with a strong message of humanity, sincerity, responsibilities, etc. Gradually with foreign countries invasion and mixing of culture, values, forward thinking and innovation the ethics of Entertainment transformed purely into profitable show business.
Now a days people are ready to compromise at any level to get into Entertainment Industry which they feel is the easiest way to earn name, fame and money, however the truth is far more deceitful. This show biz is notorious due to its “Casting Couch” culture still people are desperate to join this industry as they know it can take you to the world of billionaire in one night, but they often forget the amount of hard work, sacrifice and dedication it requires along with financial and reputational risk involved to establish oneself in the industry.
The creativity, operational activities, and the ground work required is extremely exhausting. After all this synergism it is not necessary that movies, web-series, videos, or short films will be a hit and one cannot predict whether it could be a flop even though it has a star- studded casting. It is very challenging for people those who are directly and indirectly involved with this industry as for them everything depends on the public review.
Entertainment industry like any other business has its own pros and cons, but the globalization and exchange of cultural values has revolutionized the show business into insensitive and unethical company where people are in a run to create a fake image and fawning to get their work done by hook or by crook. Earlier, people loved watching movies be it Bollywood, Hollywood or Tollywood in Theatres, but with social media platforms and OTT Channels and the industry going online everything is changed, now kids are getting more exposure to adult contents due to which they lose their mental and emotional controls this is one of the major ill – effect of this industry. People are cheated, looted also assaulted mentally, physically and financially on the pretext of getting them a break in this show business which is also a threat to Entertainment industry.
It is not that Entertainment Industry only has negative effects but it also has given us very talented actors, actresses, performers, singers and writers who have gained recognition internationally and made our country India proud on a global platform. There is exchange of not only culture or ideas but also of modern technology and sharing of artist, the Bollywood actors working collaboratively on international projects and we can see that similarly the Hollywood actors are also working in Bollywood. This show business is also one major revenue generating industry where crores are spent by public to watch the movies in cinema theatres or on online platforms.
Entertainment Industry is a very important source and means to communicate powerful & impactful messages to common people which can have positive or negative impact on the mind of those people who imitate the actors and their actions reflecting the style copied from movies or seek guidance for their career in this industry. Entertainment should be in such a way that people are inspired to work towards the betterment of our society, to channelize their energy in improving the standard of living and most important striving for humanity.
It should help the nation and its people to grow in such way where the young minds are moulded to respect all nations in the world, all religions and most important respecting elders, women, children and taking care of nature and the resources. It should motivate everyone to join in nations security forces and create an environment of safety for future generation, but currently the young minds are becoming more aggressive, disrespected, drug addicted and instead on focussing on career they are more involved in love affairs which sometimes proves fatal for them and their families as well.
Having said all the above, Entertainment has different meaning and definition for each and every individual. It could be source of happiness to those who enjoy with family and friends, it could be inspiration for those who would like to prove themselves as artist, singers, musicians, writers or etc, however it will always remain a challenging show business.
