We are living in an era of heavy competition. People are ready to push others aside for the sake of their development. We run behind possessions, leaving behind our values. Even simple things like education have turned complicated. The meaning and purpose behind education is completely forgotten, with which the meaning of life becomes unknown. Where is the world heading to? How can people and their motives be changed? For this question, education at the juvenile phase of human life stands as a solution.
When we hear the word education, the pictures of books, schools and exams flash in our minds. This word has become synonymous to stress and pressure. But, have we ever known the real denotation of this term? The present curriculum which is being implemented in our country stresses on only textbook based learning and exam based eligibility tests. So, the sad truth is, the students take up a subject and learn with a motive to reach places and start earning to just get settled in their lives. Of course, education has been a successful tool in changing the lives of the poorest ones of all the sections of the society, but is that the only purpose of it?
Currently, education is seen as a burden which pulls them down instead of lifting them up. It just seems to be a pressure exerting load kept on our heads. Are we able to manage this pressure? Not really. Many of us have chosen the ultimate of all, that is, death, as an escape from reality instead of facing it. Have we forgotten that education is for making the lamp of life glow brighter and not for blowing it off?
So, what shall be done? If we see from the basic level, the system had to be modified in such a way that it not only teaches concepts but instead must make us be able to apply it in our day to day activities. This makes learning easier, interesting and improves our innovation. Our career path should be based on interests, not by a job in the near future. Realise that the scope of any job lies only in our hands. Knowledge and experience must go hand in hand. Remember, doctors with just knowledge but no prior experience can never lift even a needle for injecting their patients! Above all, the students must be inculcated with values and life skills. They must be taught to face and handle situations.
In this way, we get to know what life is and further add a beautiful meaning to it.
Education opens one’s mind which is filled with unawareness.It paves us the right way provided it is used properly..We need to be mindful that,” Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”. Let us wake up and be aware of the negative connotations about education and unlock this tool which can change the lives of millions.
