Small entertainment Organic
When I think of entertainment, I see myself sitting in front of my phone, in my mind flying across the world.I live in a small town in Bangladesh. Life here is simple – fimiliar faces, traditional clothes, folk songs, and street vendors selling jhalmuri in the evening. But somehow, even from the quite place, I am connected to the whole world through entertainment.
As a teenager growing up in the 21st century, the entertainment world is not just something I ‘watch’ or ‘listen to’ -it’s something that shapes me every day. I wake up to songs from South Korea, follow influencers from USA,laugh at memes from Canada, and sometimes cry while watching a Turkish drama. I’ve never been to these places, yet I feel like I know a little piece of them.
This is the power of cultural exchange in entertainment -it makes distant things feel close, and strangers feel familiar. It teaches me that people from different countries may dress differently or speak different languages, but we all love music, laughter, and good stories. This global exposure has made me more open minded, more curious, and more respectful of cultures beyond my own.
But there’s also another side.
Sometimes I feel like I’m slowly forgetting my own cultural colors.I know the names of K pop idols better than I know my own folk singers. I try to copy makeup styles that Don’t suit our weather or fashion trends that don’t match match my community. I’ve started to see my own language and culture as “less cool” compared to what I see online. That scares me.
I remember one day, my grandmother was humming an old bengali folk song in the evening. I paused my spotify playlist and listened. I couldn’t understand all the words, but I could feel the soul.It was raw, real, and it felt like home. In that moment, I realized :why should I forget my roots just to fit into global trend?
In conclusion, the entertainment world is powerful. It connects us and teaches us – but it can also make us forget ourselves if we aren’t careful.I want to enjoy the world, but not lose myself in it. I want to keep my identity, and still celebrate others. That’s my way of being part of global culture- by staying true to where I come from, while keeping my heart open to the world.
