Episode 7 : The Separation
As the dawn approached, the master packed his clothes silently, careful not to disturb Ammu’s sleep, as he was preparing to leave for the cotton factory to solve the fire crisis. Moving towards the cot, he sat beside Ammu on the bed, gazed at her for a moment before checking for his watch on the nearby table. During which, accidentally, the silver glass on the flask fell, and the Master knelt down and bent under the cot to stop its clicking noise. As he raised up, Ammu woke up, gazing sleepily at the Master. “Nothing, nothing, lie down,” the Master said softly, gently patting her back to soothe her back to sleep.
He stood up from the floor, sat near Ammu, and noticed the fresh milk in the flask. He poured some milk into the glass, checked for its warmth, and started drinking it. Lost in thoughts about the previous night’s incidents and Ammu’s words, he drank the milk while gazing at Ammu. Just as he was about to finish the milk, Ammu slowly opened her eyes and looked at the master. “Didn’t you continue sleeping, Ammu?” he asked. Ammu nodded no slightly and slowly got out of bed. The master noticed Ammu’s reddish eyes as she cried the whole night back and instructed her to freshen up.
The Master sat on the bed in front of the washroom, waiting for Ammu. After a while, Ammu emerged, freshly bathed. The master called her and made her sit beside him. Voice filled with concern, he said, “Ammu, I have to leave for the cotton factory now. Stay safe until I return……!
Hurriedly interrupting, Ammu asked, Are you leaving? Why are you leaving? When will you come back? Won’t you ever come back ?? Is this the last time I’m seeing you ??? with a frightened and worried voice……
