There has always been two parts in the society since time immemorial, first the male part and the second is his counter part, i.e woman. In every society woman has always treated as the secondary person or in other words they are considered as second grade creation of god.
They have never been treated as equal to male but have always been treated as unequal part in the society till today i.e 21st century women are considered inferior to men and are always dominated by male.
In the Ancient time women were treated as goddess in India and were a part of respect whey were worshiped as the passing of time soon in the medieval period all the evil against women arose their respect turned into disrespect and they were surrounded by varieties of cruses and rituals restricted them.
they were obstructed by their own rituals and customs in consequences of which their freedom ended. They only became a part of house hold thing ,which are meant to be kept at home and not to be taken out or not to participate in out side world’s activites.
Some of the evil against woman:
- Sati:it was a custom in which wife is burried with her dead husband
- Purdah system:the women were not allowed to go out or to cover her fully with veil.
- Baal vivah: early marraige of a girl child.
- Illiteracy:only the male child were given the opportunities to go out and get education and the vise-versa was with the female child who were not allowed to get education and were kept at home to do all the house hold works.
- Machine to give birth: As the desire of male child was the old concept so in order to give birth to male child women were treated as machine to give birth to male child untill she did not give birth to male child she was not suppose to stop the process of giving birth
With the span of time the revolution came womens were given voting right, seats in parliaments, stated taking part in sports and by becoming aristocrates.
Some famous women who have shown that women are not less than men or even we can say even far better than men ,srimati Indira Gandhi who was india’s prime minister was a beautiful ruler for a democratic state,P.V sindhu,Saniya Mirza,Saniya Nehwal were some of the women who has left a bench mark in the indian sports and kiran bedi,Kalpana Chawla and fatima bibi were some of the women who with their educational qualification has marked their name in golden words.
So, women empowerment is very much necessary and it begins from their respective homes which is their first school to be a self independent women and the secondary role to empower the is upon the nation to which they belongs.
UN has taken many steps to empower them even Indian constitution through their various Articles have helped women to be independent and not to remain socially backward like Article 14,15 and 16 of the Constitution which states to treat every persons equally.
And even under Article 15 and 16 some special provisions are made for women . Empowered women will bring countries future in the seventh sky
As it is well said “YOU EDUCATE A MAN YOU EDUCATE A MAN, WHEN YOU EDUCATE A WOMAN YOU EDUCATE A GENERATION’’.
