These few are free of costly and are available in MS Word. As no one would like to buy a font to read or write an essay.
Times New Roman
It was invented in 1931. It is very common font. It is understandable, beautiful, space saving, and looks professional. It is also known as TNR. It is used in many books, articles, and documents. In numerous schools and colleges, it is used in projects, reports, assignments and ppt presentations (songs and topic). It is also used in advertisements, office documents, scripts, diary, letter, resume, CV (Curriculum Vitae), icebreaker sessions (finding words, puzzles, etc) and many more. Many companies like Microsoft, apple picked this. It is very popular font in the world. It is used in many apps like google docs, WPS office, web, printer, Windows, etc. It is also used in many competitions like short story, poetry, article, etc
If font type is not mentioned, many use it as it is default for many apps. Some use if they are confused to select font. It is easily available in all computers. It is much narrower than many fonts so many words can be fit in small paper. However, it is old font, so few are bored with it. Avoid bold and Italic formats of font.
Georgia
Georgia is name of a mountainous country. It was invented in 1993. It is little like times new roman, but it is wider and larger than times new roman. It has clarity and its strokes are thicker and sharper. It is fancy, clean, stylish, pleasant and graceful font. It is popular in printing books. These are mainly four types: Georgia Bold Italic, Georgia Bold, Georgia Italic and Georgia. It is easy to read and is legible at all sizes. It is used on product packaging, background image, home-ware designs, etc. It also gives traditional look.
Arial
It was invented in 1982. It is also commonly used font. It is also known as Arial MT. It is also graceful font. It is used in newspapers, magazines, headlines, promotions, email, university papers, government papers, homework, YouTube, memo, fax, etc. Few types are narrow, italic, narrow italic, regular, etc. It is free and trial version. It has limitations and restrictions, so it is used personally. It can be used for fun. It is also used on vehicles, hotels, bags, menu and many more. As type of fonts are arranged in alphabetical order, Arial is preferred.
Calibri
Calibri font is modern font which has a lot of curves. It was invented in 2004. It is used in WordPad, excel, outlook, wedding cards, titles, etc. These are of different types: Calibri, Calibri light, Calibri bold, Calibri light Italic, Calibri old Italic, Calibri Italic, etc. It is rounded font which looks good in bigger size. It is very attractive and used as both casually and formally. It is easy to read with background colour.
Verdana
It was invented in 1996. It was designed for Microsoft. It looks good even on low resolution outputs. It is mostly used in mails, internet explorer, few websites and text documents. They are of 3 types: bold, Italic, and regular. It was created to use in computers. It is legible font which looks good in small size. Here, spaces is more between characters. It is readable even by people who have slight visual issues.
Cambria
It was invented in 2004. It is good font for reading on screens. Types are Cambria, Cambria Italic, Cambria bold and Cambria bold Italic. Cambria math is used to present equations. It is used to label the figures, google drive, business documents, etc. It is readable even in small size. It fits well for paragraphs. Also, fonts whose name start with ’C’ are designed to be clear.
Garamond
It was invented in 1510. It looks good on book designs. It came from handwriting of humans. It looks so amazing and elegant. It is crisp, interesting, classical, and favourite. It is slightly smaller than times new roman. It makes long paragraphs readable. It makes us read quickly. It is used in harry potter’s books. Few call it a masterpiece.
