Have you ever had a friend who keeps on bugging you just so you can read a book? I mean all my friends are just like “YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO READ IT!” I mean who likes fairytales when they are in Year Four? Who would read a book about fairies when they are 10 years old? But my curiosity got the best of me and I ended up reading and when I read it, believe it or not this book became my ultimate favourite. If you know what book I am talking about you would most definitely be able to relate with me, but if you have not then let me tell you all about it.

I am not a fairytale fan but when it comes to Thea Stilton particularly, “The Secret Of The Crystal Fairies”, I have to absolutely read it. Even though her plots are stable,  she adds a special kick to the book that just makes everyone want to read it. When I first looked at the cover, I saw a purple gem castle, lots of baby blue puffy clouds but what intrigued me the most, I saw five creatures in gowns that looked 11/10 but most importantly those creatures were not made up mythical creatures, they were not even humans, but they were tiny mice with the characteristics of a human, hair like a human, they even wore clothes like  humans and most importantly walking around on two legs in shoes everywhere like a human. I mean, what kind of mouse would do that? But as I read the story, I saw even more weird things  but even though they were very unusual I got to say, Thea Stilton has an admirable imagination.

So our book revolves around five main characters Paulina, Colette, Violet, Nicky, and Pamela. They all go to the same university “Mouseford Academy” which is the reason they became best friends in the first place.

Paulina is a girl who adores technology and is very considerate of others. She came all the way from Peru, a Spanish speaking country in South America.

Colette is a girl who absolutely is crazy for fashion. She has migrated from France which can explain her love for fashion. She loves the colour pink and is very sensitive and kind.

Violet is a girl who migrated from China who is also very sensitive, but also shy. She loves sleeping, adores violins, and likes classical music.

Nicky is a university girl who came from Australia and adores nature and is an outdoor person more than an indoor person.

Finally, Pamela. Pamela is a young female from America who loves mechanics and screwdrivers. During a journal course taught by Thea they became friends with her and ever since they have been sharing stories about themselves while Thea published them into books for us to read. They named themselves after her and called themselves “The Thea Sisters”. Thea had also given them a special gift which was a phone from the fairy world for whenever it was in danger. Another mouse would call who was called Will. The girls were just preparing for summer vacation but then a phone started ringing. They looked at every single phone and then started losing hope, but then Paulina remembered Thea’s phone that was given to them and answered the phone just in time before they had lost their chance. When they picked up the phone, Will was saying that all the things in the Fairy World were getting destroyed by a dragon who was causing destruction and was turning every gem in sight into stone. They were facing many challenges like angry gnomes, rude sapphire fairies, special gem flowers, and the sleeping queen.

As they went some way or the other they solved each challenge and happily went back to their academy. While they were facing these challenges they figured out that the dragon was not bad and was actually looking for a special stone to free its beloved. In the end they happily lived and there was no more evil in the Crystal world.

So, let me further tell you about the author. Thea Stilton’s name is actually not Thea Stilton it is actually Elisabetta Dami who is Italian. She absolutely adored children. When she figured out she could not have babies she started working at a children’s hospital. As she cared very much for the sick children she got inspired to write books about a mouse called “Geronimo” as the protagonist. Her plan worked and she became a bestselling author with many venturesome stories with many antagonists who come at a very unexpected time. She has written over 66 books and has five series in total. She is very kind and lovely and has a big passion for whatever she does, and is very compassionate.

Much to my surprise, I actually had a few scenes in my mind that were just heartwarming. One of my favourite scenes is when Goldfire the Dragon, even though was harming The Crystal World, the girls were still very kind to him. In the beginning the scene where they left their trips and plans of summer vacation to help an “imaginary” world was very caring and kind even though most people would have not believed them. They had gone through a lot but still persevered so that they could save Queen Tourmaline and the Crystal World and that they were  relaxed and prosperous. This book has changed not just me, but many other children’s way of thinking about fantasy. It has inspired children to be nicer,  help others, also to be courageous and brave.

I loved this book and I would recommend it to a lot of different people. You should definitely read this book if you are one of these people, but even if you aren’t you will still adore this book. Even though this book is a little big, as soon as you start to read it you will feel like it’s too short and will want to read more and more. I recommend this book to people who like chapter books with lots of colour and funky fonts. I would also recommend this to people who like unexpected mysteries and thrillers. This book is perfect for fantasy lovers and people who like fables and stories about animals, mythical creatures, and critters. This book can change people’s way of thinking and can also encourage them to be brave, step up, be kind, and bounce back from challenges. In all of Thea Stilton’s books there is always a motto behind it and always a lesson to learn.

There are many messages in this particular story. All of these messages can be used in our daily lives. Some of these morals are:

  1. Always be kind to other no matter who they are
  2. Never see someone in trouble and leave them alone unless it is very harmful and you are not qualified to do it
  3. Always be calm and patient
  4. Two wrongs never make a right
  5. Always be loyal to your friends
  6. Always trust your instincts
  7. Be gentle and polite
  8. Never bribe anyone, earn their trust with kindness and courtesy

These are all the main things you should focus on in life and should always be humble, graceful and generous.

I believe that The Secret of the Crystal Fairies is an amazing book for all ages. It drives you into a world of imagination and mystery. It can show you many amazing fantastical drawings and amazing gemstones and crystals. I learnt a lot of things which have completely changed my behaviour ever since I read this book. I absolutely enjoyed this book and even though I have read  this book over 10 times, I still never get bored of it.
