People do not want to wait for a fixed time to watch their favourite shows. They want entertainment that fits into their schedules, not the other way around.
One of the biggest reasons for the growth of OTT platforms was the COVID-19 pandemic. During lockdowns, when cinema halls were shut and people stayed indoors, OTT became the only source of fresh content. Many big films that were supposed to be released in theatres were instead launched directly on these platforms. Viewers began to explore more content, including international shows and regional cinema. As a result, OTT platforms grew even faster than expected.

Many web series have introduced new faces who have become household names. Content on OTT is often more experimental and bold. It focuses on storytelling, rather than just glamour or popularity. For the price of one movie ticket, users can subscribe to a platform and enjoy hundreds of shows and movies every month. Some platforms also offer free content with advertisements or trial subscriptions. This has made entertainment more accessible to people from all economic backgrounds.
However, OTT platforms are not without their challenges. One of the biggest concerns is the lack of censorship. Unlike movies that are screened by a board before release, OTT content is not strictly monitored. As a result, some shows and films may include inappropriate language, violence, or adult content. This raises concerns, especially for children and teenagers who may be exposed to unsuitable material. Despite these problems, the future of OTT platforms looks very bright. Technology is improving, and so is the quality of content.
