We are in the period where everything has become digitalised. Everything has become digital with the click of our phone. Whether it be booking tickets , purchasing something or selling something each one of the following is now digital. We have overcome the time when each of these had to be done by standing in long queues or by going to their own sites at long distances. In the midst of the technological advancement , there is another concept trending for a whole -Social Media. It can be described as a medium through which people can connect , learn , educate , share and talk to each other throughout the globe i.e. if the person is in Australia or even in South Africa.
There are various platforms stood on it such as YouTube , Facebook , Instagram , etc. serving as the platform for people to use social media with Facebook being the mostly used platform by people all around the globe with YouTube after it in the year 2023.
Since each coin has both sides -Advantages supporting it and disadvantages opposing it which is applies to it as well. Social Media helps users to connect with their parents’ and friend’s irrespective of their location which is beneficial. But , it also leads to security concerns as there are many people on this wide scale and some may try to hack your account and try to control it which has been a major concern for people.
It also has privacy concerns as some people using their accounts would post regularly and may post their personal information such as their location or the next place he/she may go to visit.
Social Media helps in educating and sharing information among various people such as Khan Academy which helps people to access educational content digitally easily and efficiently at their own place. It helps people to also build their personality. For example , there are many famous personalities and influencers who have become famous and have built their personality on these platforms while some people get famous in their video as it gets trending with the widespread network. It also helps people to generate a source of income for many persons such as YouTubers and Influencers.
It also helps in building fashion trends as there are various types of content available and fashion has now become more common in these days with people trying to explore various fashions and dresses. But , on these advantages comes some problems such as addiction. As there are millions of people all around the globe who watch the videos and see the posts and there are various irrelevant posts as well while other topics which are not good but people may get addicted to these which is not good as anything more in use may harm us.
Also with these comes frauds and scams which try to make people fool and and steal their money and nowadays , people have tried to use other ways for this purpose. So , people have to be updated and alerted to these scams and frauds. So , I would like to conclude in my words that Social Media is a boon in extra words while a less bane as the problems can be addressed with various solutions and strict measures which have been adopted by various countries such as China , North Korea etc. to stimulate the use of the global network of mainly , the teenagers and the youth of the country which are the future of the nation.
