The entertainment world was once again surprised by Shah Rukh Khan’s presence at the Met Gala 2025. The King of Bollywood, as people call him, looked fashionable on the red carpet. He admitted that he was nervous about walking the red carpet, and the heartwarming reason was that he was there to fulfill his children’s wishes. he appeared in an outfit designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. wearing a long black woolen coat over a black “crepe de chine” silk shirt and sharply tailored pants. Don’t forget the iconic necklace with the letter k. remember that designer sabyasachi mukhrejee presented shah rukh khan as shah rukh khan, not someone else.
The Met Gala is a big and grand event. Top celebrities and singers come to the red carpet in elegant dresses that have been themed from the beginning. The theme of met gala 2025 Is “superfine : Tailoring black style” with inspiration book from “slaves to fashion” by monica L. miller. With a dress code of ‘Tailored for You’. The theme highlights black dandyism and focuses on celebrating identity and strength through fashion. clothing as a form of expression, the theme was hoped that celebrities, artists, and others would be able to express themselves and make a statement about their identity and strength. the meaning is quite strong and bold.
but not many also criticized shah rukh khan’s outfit for not fitting the theme. even if mukhrejee had tried to explain that he wanted to present shah rukh khan as shah rukh khan, not someone else. And things got a bit tense when the 2 hosts asked shah rukh khan, “who are you?”. Teyana Taylor and Ego Nwodim. They can’t recognize him. and the public on the internet started to criticize it. There are pros and cons. And the most echoed is, “how do you not know the legend of bollywood?” and there will be an answer, “sorry, but it seems that SRK is only famous in India”. And I personally deny that he is only famous in India, in fact my mother has idolized him since she was a child.
When it comes to Shah Rukh Khan’s fame, I as a Generation Z fan admit that King SRK is able to beat the dominance of kpop fans. You know how many associations of old and young moms, dads to young ones, they know more about SRK than Jungkook or KPop members. SRK is an iconic star artist, loved by many people from young to old. It even becomes a trademark when someone tries to introduce bollywood to a new person. I personally feel that when SRK is in a movie, I feel more comfortable watching it. He’s the center, and I always loved it when he start to acting. SRK’s most memorable movie is “kuch kuch hota hai”. It was his gold momentum in bollywood entertainment. And especially when he playing with kajol. They looks so perfect to play in any stage, even gerua or Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge the iconic music “tujhe dekha to ya jana sanam” i still remember it till now. And right now when i write this essay, i listen into it. How iconic.
I remember my mom always playing this playlist when she do his work assignments in home. And somehow i vibing with her and imagine myself be in field of yellow flowers like in scene. How nostalgic when i remember about srk and his achievements in bollywood entertainment. Even if he done everything with lypsinc, it still synchronous. When I was a kid, I always played DVDs and one of them was a collection of songs from movies starring SRK, some of those songs I still memorize.
Did you know that srk’s iconic pose is stretching his arms. and people around the world almost all know it and they imitate SRK. There is no movie without srk spreading his arms, like khritik roshan without doing his skillful dance. Indian actors have their own trademarks, and srk is the most iconic, in my opinion. Mothers or gardanmothers mostly in Indonesia idolizing SRK in their time. So if someone asked if they know one of india person, it will be shah rukh khan that come first from their mouths.
When hosts from met gala can’t recognize him for the fans it means insult. But i know it’s not meant like that, probably they don’t know really because it’s not their interest anymore. And srk looks don’t mind about that, at least mukhrejee already explain to two hosts about srk’s fame, and hoping they’re can repair what they had done in the future.
Talking about bollywood, did you know that their music kinda good and i like to listen to all of it, almost. They had that banger or vibes and make us want to dance or act like one of the character in film. Even there’s much parody about bollywood movie/ music video, especially from mohabattein. People are so creative like india’s entertainment show. and i never missed some parody that parodied SRK or kajol in kuch kuch ho ta hai, so funny and amusing.
Last movies i watched is chennai express, it’s been so long since i rewatch it again. It’s about man and woman, well it’s too long, long short story woman come from mafia/ kind like that family. And srk need to play along with that woman to escape kind of engagement that made by her father/leader of that mafia group. SRK No fight skill, minus survival intuition and meet that kind of woman and her life full of danger, they’re run away together and disguised themselves as husband and wife. Good story and i like that they put kashmir’s scene. Full of tea plants and also farmers. Dancing and singing together full of rhythm.
What i fond of srk because he’s different and kind of actor that has more than just acting talent. He stayed in bollywood and refused hollywood invitation because he wants to make life bollywood entertainment until now.
