There are many famous authors now, and even more in the world’s history. Many of them wrote captivating books which steal your mind and posses you. Once you pick up a book of one of them, you find that it’s simply not possible to put it down. Ones you start naming them there is no end to it. One of these incredible talented and popular authors is Enid Blyton.

Most people think that Enid Blyton was male. When people read this amazing author’s name this is what they presume. But Enid has thwarted these people with her name. Surely, many of you are probably wondering-HER? Yes, she is female. Another thing unknown to most people is that her full name was Enid Mary Blyton. She was born on 11th of August 1897. She was born in East Dulwich, which was located to the South of London, England. Enid Blyton wanted to be a teacher, but her parents wanted her to choose a different courier. They wanted her to become a concert pianist, but she had more interest in spreading knowledge.

At least 600 million copies of her books have been sold which is a tremendous accomplishment. Her books have also been translated to about 90 languages! It is difficult to imagine how many people of the different parts of the world are reading her books. Her books are inspirations for some children and motivations for others. She wanted her readers to learn something for her books and that is why most of her stories had a moral. She wrote her first book almost a century ago and her books are still popular now. Don’t you wonder if she ever gazed into her vision of the future and saw us reading her knowledgeable as well as mind-catching books?

When she was a child, her main interest was writing poems and stories. She sent many of her works to magazines but none of them were published. Her first success was when her poem book-The Child Whisperer’s was published in 1922. The poems in this book focused on mythical creatures, enchanted nature, and childhood. She has mentioned many poems in her short story books as part of the stories.  Some of her famous books are-Secret Seven, Famous Five, The Five-Outers and many more. Enid Blyton’s books were condemned for a short period of time. People tried making changes to her books which were not success. Her books were unique works which could not be changed and were special in their own way.,

Enid Blyton was also there in the Guinness Book of Records for a period for being the world’s bestselling author and for writing the greatest number of books which is about 762. Some new Goblin Spiders in Sri Lanka were named after goblins (actually brownies) in Enid Blyton’s books- Chippy, Snooky and Tumpy. She had many more achievement. Her sad demise happened due to Alzheimer’s disease on November 28, 1968, in Hampstead, which is in London, but she will always remain in our hearts.
