Mansarovar – deep yet unsettled purity
Entertaining animals and humans alike with its arms wide open, the Mansarovar lake grants liberation to every soul that approaches it. However, one needs to understand that it bears disquiet waves just like the ocean and can simply pull you inside of it if not careful.
Right above the sacred body of water, one can see pure white clouds, whereas there is another pool nearby, which is also known as the Rakshas Tal and has dark clouds all the time above it. Such is the power of the energies around these ponds. These are not merely lagoons but rather witnesses to the long mythological stories behind their origins and histories.
Even the taste of the fluid the Mansarovar bears is so sweet that it can purify the minds of those consuming it. It is also believed that the holy lake is the primary source of life on the entire planet earth itself and bears the very lives of the Ganas or supporters of Lord Shiva himself inside of it. Even some of the masters of history are said to visit this places along with the Gods and Goddesses. It is even said that this pond is the source of many rivers that flow into the holy land of India.
Full of swans during the hot months, the Mapham Yumtso brings along with its waters pulchritude and high levels of insight to all those that consume its waters and take mere dips into it. Considering that the meaning of the word Mansarovar means “the water body that originated from the mind of Lord Brahma, the lake grants shelter according to myths even to Lord Vishnu and is also known as the Ksheer Saagar or the famous “ocean of milk.” During nightfall, it gets extremely cold near this pool and one cannot stand near it without bringing along their thermal wears.
It is also believed that Shri Guru Nanak, the holy saint of the Sikhs, who is also said to be a reincarnation of God Shiva, visited this sacred place and stayed for some time in the vicinity of the lake. The Bons or the locals residing here are also believed to do circumambulations of Mansarovar along with the holy mountain, Kailash, considering that both are equally important to them.
Several austerities are performed around the sacred pond of Mapham Yumtso but not a single being is found even hovering around the Rakshas Tal because it is not only salty but also replete with strong negative energies around it. Even the Blue God does not go to visit this body of water because of the kind of dynamics it carries. The meaning of the lake is “a water body of the demons” and even Ravana, the king of the monsters came to live here for several years to perform sacred rites. The water in it is therefore toxic and salty.
On the other hand, due to the fact that the Mansarovar has golden ducks and swans visiting it, it is considered to be extremely pure. Once an ocean, it is still deep but yet full of unsettled waves that rush towards those that visit it, its purity is more than the other holy lakes in and around India.
