Going on a vacation is something that everyone eagerly anticipates to unwind and spend quality time with family or friends. Of course, we want to relax at a place that is comfortable. When talking about vacation spots, one of the most popular and frequently visited destinations is the beach. The natural beauty of the beach is an attraction in itself, just like Klayar Beach in East Java, located in Sendang Village, Donorojo District, Pacitan Regency, East Java. The distance from Klayar Beach to Pacitan city is about 40 kilometers. In this article, I will discuss in more detail the charm of Klayar Beach, the various activities that can be done, and why this place has become one of the favorite destinations for tourists.

Klayar Beach has soft white sand and clear water, and it has unique characteristics that set it apart from other beaches in the surrounding area, making it an attractive spot for visitors. One of the main attractions of Klayar Beach is the unique coral reef, known as “Seruling Samudra” (Ocean Flute). It is called the Ocean Flute because this rock produces a sound similar to the sound of a flute when hit by big waves. This uniqueness is what makes Klayar Beach a favorite destination for tourists. In addition, there are high rock cliffs, which are usually used as photo spots.

For tourists who love photography, they can also rely on the sunrise or sunset to make their photos more interesting, as the views are soothing to the eye, and the sound of waves crashing on the shore creates a serene atmosphere.

To visit Klayar Beach, it takes about two and a half hours from Solo, Central Java. Currently, the road to Klayar Beach is in good condition, although winding, and there are clear signposts to make it easier for tourists to find their way.

Klayar Beach is visited by tourists every year and is open 24 hours, so visitors can come at any time. However, it is recommended to visit the beach between 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM. To enter Klayar Beach, you need to pay an entrance fee of IDR 10,000 for children and IDR 15,000 for adults. The parking fee is also standard. Motorbike users need to pay IDR 2,000, while those with cars or four-wheel vehicles only need to pay IDR 5,000.

Visitors using cars will need to walk about 1,5 kilometers from the parking area to the beach, as the car parking area is located on a higher ground. For motorbike users, the parking area is located close to the beach. However, for visitors with cars who don’t want to walk or carry too many belongings, they can use an motorcycle taxi to reach the destination.

Once you reach the destination, visitors can enjoy various activities such as playing in the water, swimming, surfing, sunbathing, or riding an ATV. To explore the natural beauty of the area, visitors can rent an ATV for a more convenient and exciting experience. It is also important to know the right time to sunbathe. If done incorrectly, it can cause skin damage or even skin cancer. The ideal time for sunbathing is around 9 AM and after 4 PM. It is advised to use sunscreen or sunblock, especially on areas directly exposed to sunlight, to minimize the harmful effects of UV rays.

When having fun playing in the water or swimming at the beach, we often don’t realize that there might be large waves or other warnings given by the lifeguards. Therefore, it is important for us as tourists to always stay alert and heed those warnings to avoid unwanted incidents. This includes being cautious of jellyfish, coral, sea urchins, and other marine animals that are often washed up on the shore. In addition, pay attention to the cleanliness of the surrounding environment. Keep the beach clean by not littering, not polluting the water, and not damaging the marine ecosystem.

One of the biggest challenges is the issue of waste, especially plastic waste that is often washed up on the beach or carried by waves, which can pollute the beauty of the beach and harm marine animals. Therefore, it is important to carry out efforts to prevent damage to marine life, such as regular beach clean-ups and educating tourists on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and preserving the surrounding nature.

After enjoying the water and surfing at the beach, it would not be complete without hunting for some local cuisine, especially after being active and having an empty stomach. There are several restaurants around Klayar Beach that serve seafood dishes like shrimp, squid, and crab. You can also find grilled fish, fried fish, and traditional dishes that you can enjoy with your family. Don’t worry if you’re thirsty and craving something refreshing, as these food stalls also offer fresh coconut water, which has many health benefits.

For souvenir lovers, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to hunt for souvenirs to bring home to your family. There are plenty of souvenirs to buy, such as keychains, clothing, bracelets, and trinkets mostly made from seashells, often directly collected from the ocean. You can also buy food or fresh fish caught from the sea.

If you’re still not satisfied and want to experience the beauty of the beach again or explore the surrounding area, you can stay overnight at a homestay. It’s best to choose a place that is highly recommended and trusted to ensure a comfortable and safe stay. Each homestay offers different facilities, so choose one according to your interests.

The natural beauty of the beach not only provides a sense of peace and comfort but also serves as a gathering place for family and friends. Be sure to check the weather conditions before going on your vacation to ensure your holiday is even more enjoyable and free from bad weather disruptions.
