Writing a long essay calls for numerous hours of focus and thinking. One needs to spend hours on extensive research and on editing the entire essay. But the more time you spend on an essay, the better it will be. A five-page essay is bound to cover most of the details about the topic and this can only be done by doing the required research.

After the research is done, it’s also difficult to tell apart useful information from the large amount of data you have read through. However, with a good amount of planning you can write a five-page essay that is organised and comprehensible and also keeps the reader engaged. Here are some tips to make things easier for you when you start with a long essay.

Firstly, try to organise your ideas into a document. Be sure that you are clear about the topic and understand what it’s trying to say. Underlining the key points of the topics on which you need to focus and frame your essay can help make your thought process clear and concise. Jot down the important points you need to cover.

Then write your topic at the very top followed by your thesis statement which sums up the purpose and content of your essay in a few lines. After that, form your topics for each paragraph; each paragraph should convey a specific message. All these paragraphs when put together must flow together sequentially with each other.

Note down the things you will write about in each paragraph in the form of short sentences. In the end, think of a title which goes well with your entire outline and then work on the essay according to it. This document will assist you during the writing process and help you stay on track. It will also help you to get your research done fast as you now know what you have to research about instead of spending time reading anything and everything related to the topic.

Now you just need to fill up the document with relevant information under each paragraph topic. For the introduction, make sure to give it your all. Try to make it as interesting and engaging as you can. Do not let out everything about the essay in the introduction as some amount of curiosity should be aroused in the reader’s mind as that’s what’s going to keep them reading through the five pages. As for the reader, it is difficult to read a five-page essay as well, so it is necessary that at the end of every sentence the reader is eager to read the next one as well.

After writing the introduction, move to the following paragraph. Each paragraph covers a specific topic. Cover all the points you noted below the topic in the document and support it with necessary examples. When writing different paragraphs make sure they transition into each other smoothly.

Two consecutive paragraphs must not have completely unrelated topics. For making the paragraphs flow smoothly into each other, you can add transition sentences in between them. The paragraphs must convey the respective meaning of their topics and must provide every piece of useful information on that topic. The content in a paragraph must not deviate from its topic.

Lastly, following all the paragraphs will be the conclusion. The conclusion must summarise everything said in the essay in two to three lines. Since the essay was five pages long, the reader must have amassed a large amount of information from the content of the essay.

If you sum it all up, it would be helpful for the reader to comprehend the general idea of your essay. The conclusion must also indicate the essay has come to an end and the confidence that the essay is inclusive of everything one can know about the topic.

By now, you have almost completed writing your essay, but another big task awaits you and that is editing your essay. You must look through your essay for any spelling errors, grammar errors, or organizational errors. Proofread your essay multiple times before making the final copy.

You can ask someone to read through your essay for you because sometimes we fail to look at our mistakes which others might point out easily.  You should never stop revising until you are completely pleased with your composition.

And there you go! You have finished writing your five-page essay. Yes, it sounds rather uncomplicated; however, each step can have its complexities and challenges which you might face when writing the essay. To overcome these challenges, you need to stay focused and have a clear idea about the topic.

Distraction will come your way and procrastination will hunt you down for the long time you will take to write the essay, but just be clear that if you succumb to them, it will just take you even more time to complete your essay. So, move ahead with your end goal in mind and nothing can stop you from writing an exceptional essay.
