Currently , the scientists are doing some research on the red planet known as Mars. Mars is one of the four outermost planets from the Sun. Its rocky surfaces, soil, and sky are all red or pink in colour, a characteristic that has been observed by astronomers throughout history. The Romans gave the planet its name in honour of its god of war, and the ancient Egyptians called it Her Descher, meaning red one.
Prior to the advent of space travel, Mars was seen as a potential habitat for extraterrestrial life, with astronomers speculating that the planet’s flat surface was lined with straight lines, suggesting that intelligent beings had constructed irrigation canals. This was further supported by the 1938 radio drama, “War of the Worlds”, which was based on the classic science fiction story of the invading Martians and caused widespread panic.
Another reason for the potential for life on Mars was the apparent seasonal variations in the colour of the surface. During the warmer months, vegetation may bloom, while during the colder months, plant life may become dormant.
