ESSAY

The word essay is derived from the Latin word ‘exagium’, which means presenting one’s case. So Essay is a piece of writing to convince someone of something or inform readers about a topic. For the readers to be confident, the essay must include several important components to make it flow logically. 

TYPES OF ESSAY 

ACADEMIC ESSAY 

It is the most known form of essay. These essays are intended to gauge the intelligence of the students. These articles are usually longer in length ranging from between 3000-5000. In this type of essay, students are challenged to show their competitive and analyzing skills. These essays are based on the content covered in your coursework and other sources. 

NARRATIVE ESSAY 

It is a real or imaginary story that you want your audience to know about your life experience. Usually, they are crafted in the first person’s voice to make the audience understand better. Here you can use different writing resources such as flashbacks, flash-forward, etc.

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY 

It focuses on the details of the story to create an impact on the reader’s senses. For writing an excellent descriptive essay you may use metaphors, connotative languages, and other useful tools. 

COMPARISON ESSAY 

They analyze and contrast two or more central points that are broken down and compared through the extension of the piece. Another variant is cause and effect topic in which you can analyze the consequences or possibilities of some action or happenings.

PHILOSOPHICAL ESSAY 

Here you write about a point and use rational arguments to back up the thoughts and opinions. Writing a high-quality philosophical essay depends on the topic that you have chosen. So choose the topic wisely which is not only entertaining but also requires academic investigation. 

ARGUMENTIVE ESSAY 

Here you argue for a certain position and explain why you support it with appropriate evidence and relevant information that will convince the audience. 

COMPONENTS OF ESSAY

  •  INTRODUCTION 

Here you introduce the topic of the essay and its relevance of being talked. 

  • BODY 

Most forms of essay consist of 5 paragraphs 1 for the introduction, 3 for the main body, and 1 for the conclusion. 

FIRST PARAGRAPH: Here you smoothly start talking about the first point of the essay, smoothly because this part follows the end of the introduction. 

SECOND PARAGRAPH: This paragraph serves as a backup space where the author provides clear and official evidence to support the points written.

THIRD PARAGRAPH: This part addresses counterclaims and arguments relevant to the topic. 

  •  CONCLUSION 

In this paragraph author writes the summary of the essay, highlighting the main points and suggesting various points.

MAIN GOAL OF WRITING AN ESSAY 

  • To Enlighten your readers 

An informative essay requires the use of accurate and supportable information. In order to enlighten your audience, you must have done in-depth research on the topic and provide it to the audience.

  • To Convince your audience 

Persuasive essays are planned to make the audience take action about something. In order to achieve this, you must support your essay with verifiable facts to convince the readers.

  •  Entertainment

If you want to attract the attention of your audience you must write to entertain the audience through humor or any other funny statement.

RESEARCH PAPER 

It is an academic piece that is written express views about a particular topic using supportive sources, such as a book, journals, etc. They are approximately 8 pages long which is longer than an essay. A high-quality research paper requires in-depth research of a topic. 

TYPES OF RESEARCH PAPER 

  • ANALYTICAL RESEARCH PAPER 

In this type your gather information from other researchers finding in order to conclude on a particular topic. It is advised to remain neutral with this article. 

  • ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER 

Two controversial topics are health with the same document. Here you must provide information from various research findings to support your side. 

  •  DEFINITION PAPER 

This paper describes facts without using the author’s personal opinion.

  •  EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH PAPER 

In this type of paper, you describe the procedure used in the experiment then analyze data and finally write a report.

One gets new insights about a particular topic while doing research. An individual becomes more knowledgeable after doing research.

A research paper can provide a lot of information to an entrepreneur for eg a particular area does not have efficient health facilities, the entrepreneur will use this data and expand his business in this area. 

COMPONENTS OF THE RESEARCH PAPER

  • TITLE

Authors are required to dedicate a page to address the topic chosen.

  •  ABSTRACT 

It works as a summary of the paper, highlighting the key points. 

  •  INTRODUCTION

Introduce the topic and its relevance. 

  • BACKGROUND

It includes proper background information readers can use to understand the topic better.

  •  BODY 

The body can be divided into any number of paragraphs as needed. You can write a new paragraph for every new point or perspective.

  •  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This part thanks the people who have contributed to this piece of writing 

  •  REFERENCES 

All information used should be properly mentioned in this part according to the format required.

Generally, both require complex skills, both the research paper and essay, there are various flavors involved however researched paper is limited to comparing and contrasting and the essay is limited to philosophical, narrative, and academic styles. The essay focuses on proving the writers writing skills and capabilities whereas a research paper focuses on a deep analysis of the paper.
