Beneath The Turkish Skies: A Vacation to Remember
Turkey is a one of a “Mediterranean” country and a country that rests between Asia and Europe, it could be said that Turkey is quite a unique country. And our journey across Turkey is as unique as the country itself.
The cold wind, the blue sky, and the streets of cobblestones filled with people staying out of affairs, It was the first thing I experienced after the long exhausting flight. As we venture into the capital city, Istanbul, We are welcomed by towering buildings scraping the skies and buildings with an architecture mixed between old and modern. The streets of Istanbul were filled by merchants selling their goods, street performers showing their talents and the cats along with the dogs living in harmony. It is truly a mind boggling sight to witness.
Venturing further we came along to the great market, there, we were greeted with many concurrent affairs and an overwhelming sensation of the buzzed air with the calls of vendors hawking their wares, and symphony of sounds mingling with the rich aroma of spices and roasted nuts. We can hardly move inside the great market due to the streets being filled with people to the brim.
Withdrawing from the market, we decided to take the ‘tram’ heading to the Great Sultan Ahmed Mosque or its common name “The Blue Mosque”. Beyond the mosque, we found ourself in the midst of crowd waiting for their turn for the ticket queue line booth. It is no wonder how the mosque are mostly full most of the time, the location of the mosque is built very near the beautiful “Bosphorus River” so you also can see the other side of the river, and of course the Mosque itself as it is a sight to see even from the outside. Even though I never got a chance to go inside the mosque, it is rumored that the inside is way bigger than we thought judging from the outside.
Istanbul completely captivated us from the moment we arrived. The bustling markets, the surprising harmony of city life, and the breathtaking sight of the Blue Mosque near the shimmering Bosphorus created a first impression that was nothing short of amazing. Our initial foray into Turkey has been an exciting glimpse into a truly unique place, and we’re eager to uncover even more of its wonders.
Turkey, especially Istanbul, truly swept us off our feet right from the beginning. The lively markets, to the unexpected way the city just hums along, and seeing the Blue Mosque so close to the sparkling Bosphorus river, It made for an amazing first taste of Turkey. This little trip has already given us a thrilling look at a really special place, and we can’t wait to see what else it has to offer.
