Alarming Environmental Concerns Need Our Immediate Attention
Issues in our environment have been on the rise for the last several decades. The issues have now become so serious that they are now affecting the natural cycle of the environment. For example, now we can see the onset of seasons at unusual times regularly.
However, the aftereffects of the environmental issues are bigger. The damage which has already been done to the environment is slowly becoming non-reversible. So, now governments in various parts of the world have started to take steps to avoid any further damage.
Among all the steps, there has been an increasing buzz regarding net zero carbon emission. It has been talked about in several crucial organizations of the world like United Nations. However, the changes will need some time to show results.
The Cause of Issue
The damage is in several forms and is now affecting the health of the general public also. So, now we will look at some of the points that depict the issues that are causing carbon emission. In addition, we will also take a look at some probable solutions.
1. Pollution
The sheer amount of garbage and waste that we are producing daily is humongous. These wastes are polluting our soil, air and water.
As a result, now we have less soil that is suitable for cultivation and agriculture. The water that is suitable for use is also getting reduced. Air quality is also reducing day by day due to excessive burning of garbage at landfills. This is resulting in various health complications among the people. It is also causing issues in the mental state of the people. It is because the number of foreign particles that are going into our bodies nowadays is huge. So, this is resulting in various complexities, health issues and ultimately a bad overall atmosphere for us to live in.
2. Plastic use
Plastic has been able to get into our lives and settle down at a very rapid pace. Now, we have probably almost every single usable item in plastic form. It is being used at a large scale in various industries like packaging, chemical department, toys and even household items. These are also getting into landfills and are being burned at a rapid pace. Their improper disposal is causing further carbon footprints in the environment. It is highly prevalent in urban areas.
3. Deforestation
The number of trees that are being cut today for various purposes is creating a lot of environmental issues. First of all, it is causing a loss of green cover on Earth. There is also a loss of natural habitat for wild animals. This is also causing a disbalance in the natural ecosystem as several species are not able to survive outside their natural surroundings. So, now we have several species of plants and animals that are endangered.
All this is taking away our natural purifiers. Plants and trees have always been the largest consumers of carbon dioxide. However, their reduction has caused carbon levels to rise in out environment.
4. Global Warming
Due to pollution, there is also an increase in the temperature of our planet. This has caused a loss of precious ozone layer of our planet Earth. This layer has been crucial in providing us protection against the harmful UV rays of the Sun. This also causing the melting of ice caps in the polar regions. This in turn results in an increase in sea level and is causing an unusual number of natural disasters in various regions of the world.
Probable Solutions
All of the above problems can be eliminated. For that, there needs to be some rules and regulations that can regulate various factors among the population.
Now, we even have various laws that are being implemented to save our environment and planet. For example, now we have electric vehicles that are being used. These vehicles are available at a subsidised price from various governments in many countries. These are helping in reducing pollution and the use of fossil fuels. There is also a rule now that is directing the companies to become zero carbon emitters.
Further, there is an increasing voice all over the world that plastic must be banned from use. For this, there is also a ban on single-use plastic in various countries. Changes are also being made in the fuel that we use in our vehicles or in electricity generation plants. Some countries are using wind energy and solar energy as their source of electricity.
So, now we also need to take some steps that can help in reducing environmental issues like carbon emissions. Some of them can be the use of environmentally friendly products that are harmless. We also need to prefer the use of public transport daily, avoid cutting trees, reduce waste in our houses, and many more. This way we can help reduce the environmental issues by eliminating some of the factors that are the main culprit behind it.
