The sun pleasantly glowed in the golden vast expanse of the sky like a flickering lantern on a cool summer evening. A range of rolling hills were rimmed dreamily against the ochreous orange glow.

The ripples of the frothy sea lashed against the tetrapods and their rhythmic lapping created a soul soothing melody that touched the chord of every heart. Seagulls hovered and soared in the sky, chirruping to break the entombed silence. Beachcombers were promenading along the vast expanse of grazing sand allowing the sun’s mellow rays to caress their supple skin. Tall coconut trees brimmed the shoreline elegantly and their pea-green leaves whispered and rustled in the light breeze. I was standing facing the beauty of the never-ending sea watching the sunset with the cool evening breeze that wrapped me.

The dusk was breaking over the horizon. The cool empty sky flushed a little above the rim of a dark hill. Above the horizon, the sun hung like a luminous white pearl, ready to make its descent. The sun was slowly settling from sight, stripes of purple, orange, crimson, and gold piled themselves on top of the distant hill and above the sea.  The earth bathed in this warm glow.  Sunset waned from inky blue to majestic ochre. Such a scintillating sight to capture! The sea looked serene welcoming the sun into its abode. The sea opened its arms to cradle the sun.  As the sun was descending it outlined the clouds with a lilac paintbrush. I lay there staring at the glittery water that had a golden tinge on the fringes. The sky was transforming its hues. The vast sky looked like a disco place mutating its hues so rapidly and gradually cooling the earth’s ground below.

Flight of birds were flying in their group finding their way home. Flowers stooped after a daylong erect posture. It was a charismatic sight as the cluster of stars took their place in the vast lilac sky. The last shaft of light slowly faded away from the sky. I could feel the dazzling stars that looked then like silver bells, playing a soft somber melody in the backdrop to welcome the cool night. The magic had transpired! Slowly the sky turned as dark as night and the wind blew hard with the shimmering blinking gazillion stars. The sea had been driven so near to me as if it was welcoming me just like the sun. The moon took its place in the sky, dark clouds engulfed the moon, while the moon continued to cast a silvery glow in the chilly night. The balmy breeze wafted around drifting me in sweet memory.

Sunset is proof that a day may start however but it will end on a colorful note. Sunset is a sight for sore eyes. Sunset is more beautiful than sunrise as good things lie in the salty scent of goodbyes.
