This was the holy grail of binge watchers, who wanted the latest movies without the headache of a monthly subscription. The name “MKV” refers to a popular video file format (Matroska Video), which the site often used to label its downloads. The file-cloning tool also shut down in the same action which pulled 231.4 million visits, more than MKVCinemas itself.
