Travel is one of the most exciting things in life. It allows us to see new places, meet different people, and learn about cultures we may have never heard of. When we travel, we discover history, taste different foods, and understand how people in different parts of the world live.

For kids, travel is even more special. It’s a chance to explore, to be curious, and to ask a hundred questions about everything we see. We get to visit amusement parks, historical sites, beaches, and mountains. Sometimes, we even travel to see our grandparents and listen to their stories about how things were in the past. These stories always make me wish for something even more exciting than regular travel. I wish I could time travel!

If I had a time machine, I wouldn’t want to travel into the future. I don’t want to see robots doing all our work or people living on Mars. Instead, I want to go back in time to a time when life was simple, when people had more time for each other, and when the world felt like a safer, happier place.

Nowadays, everyone is busy. Parents are busy with work, kids are busy with school and homework, and even grandparents seem busy with their phones or television. But in the past, people had time for each other. Families would sit together in the evening, talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Friends would visit each other’s homes without sending messages first. There were no mobile phones to distract people, and no one had to check social media every few minutes. I wish I could travel back to those days, just to see how it felt when people truly listened to each other without looking at screens.

Today, every time we go outside, we hear about Air Quality Index. Sometimes, we even have to wear masks, not because of a virus, but because of pollution. But in the past, there was no need to worry about AQI. The air was fresh, and the skies were blue. There were more trees, fewer cars, and people could walk outside without coughing because of pollution. I would love to experience a day when I could just take deep breaths of fresh air, run around without feeling tired too quickly, and see a sky full of twinkling stars at night without the glow of city lights hiding them.

Today, if there’s a power cut, everyone gets annoyed. People worry about their Wi-Fi, their phone batteries, or how they will sleep without the fan or air conditioner. But I have heard that in the past, power cuts were actually fun! Kids would run to their terraces, where the cool breeze made everything feel magical. They would play games, tell stories, and look at the stars. Families would sit together with candles or lanterns and chat about their day. It was a time to bond, to laugh, and to enjoy simple moments. I wish I could time travel to one such evening, sit on a terrace with my friends, and enjoy the beauty of the night without any distractions.

One of the biggest reasons I want to travel back in time is to see a world where kids could play outside freely. Today, parents are always worried. They don’t let us go too far alone. We have to be careful of strangers, traffic, and so many dangers. But in the past, things were different. Children could ride their bicycles in the streets, play in parks without fear, and walk to their friends’ houses without needing an adult to go with them. People trusted each other more, and there was a stronger sense of community. I would love to visit a time when I could just run outside, make new friends in the neighbourhood, and feel completely safe.

If I could time travel, I would love to experience those simple joys. I would run in open fields, play in the rain without worry, and make friends without the internet. I would wake up to the sound of birds instead of alarms and spend my evenings flying kites instead of watching TV.

Even though I don’t have a time machine, I think we can still bring back some of these beautiful moments. Maybe we can start spending more time with our families instead of looking at screens all the time. Maybe we can go outside and play, instead of always watching videos or playing games on tablets. We can take care of the environment by planting more trees and using fewer cars, so that one day, we won’t have to check AQI before stepping outside.

I wish we could turn off our lights one evening and pretend there’s a power cut, just to see what it feels like to play in the dark, tell stories, and enjoy the cool night air. Maybe, if we try, we can make today feel a little bit like the beautiful past.
