The Future Impact of 2024
Post pandemic world is still recuperating from the destruction caused by corona virus. And unfortunately there have been wars between Russia and Ukraine and the annihilation caused by Israel in Palestine.
The world also witnessed change in in political power as recently Donald Trump won the US presidential elections & Joe Biden regime lost. In India the Modi government came to power for the third time in succession albeit with a slightly fractured mandate but as expected it has regained the power.
Similarly in USA Trump has won the elections as expected and Kamla Harris has lost , Trump was supported by Elon Musk, it was expected the charismatic face of Trump will win & it won the elections. The failure of Joe Biden regime helped the Trump regime to regain power.
Ukraine has been annihilated by Russia since mid 2023 & it continued in 2024 , lot of Indian students studying in Ukraine returned back to India. Beautiful country like Ukraine is now reduced to broken pieces of building, destructed homes it’s unfortunate that United Nations hasn’t been able to bring a ceasefire. The Irony is the preamble of the United Nations charter speaks about Security, Peace , protecting & promoting fundamental human rights but it has failed to protect human lives.
The civil war in Sudan continued in 2024 which began in 2023. As such there is limited power of UN to interfere in internal disturbance of a country due to Sovereign power of all states but certainly it can interfere where there are gross violations of human rights.
Similarly there has been massive destruction in gaza & Palestine hundreds of thousands of kids , woman & man were killed brutally by Israel. Even school buildings & hospitals were attacked. Innocent civilians should not be attacked , as lives of all Civilians is precious.
There was also conflict between Iran & Israel they attacked each other luckily it hasn’t escalated further in war. Presently ceasefire is announced in Gaza by Donald Trump but even after the ceasefire there has been violations of ceasefire from Israel side.
South Africa filled a case an international Court of Justice against Israel in the support of Palestine and international Court of Justice accepted the fact that Israel has illegally encroached upon the land of Palestine. It’s unfortunate that Palestine welcomed the Zionist people with open arms in 1947-48 gave them food shelter & homes but Israeli government kept encroaching further & torturing Palestine.
In India the Modi government came back to power yet again it seems the BJP will remain in power forever. Elon Musk has said that the electronic voting machines can be tampered & world over electronic voting machines have been banned for elections. There have been allegations of electoral machinations on the incumbent government by the opposition parties.
Bangladesh also witnessed change of power , Shaikh Haseena had to take shelter in India , there has been great political turmoil in Bangladesh.
As far as technology is concerned the artificial intelligence technology kept growing in 2024. However along with the technological advancement there has been growing concern for the dangers associated with technology. As in artificial intelligence generated kiss videos any person can select 2 pictures and the artificial intelligence will make a video of those people kissing each other & it looks real. Similarly in Maha Kumbh festival of India the artificial intelligence generator creates videos of top leaders and celebrities of the world taking bath in the Ganga river of India.
The danger of the technology is huge as lot of illiterate people will believe that the videos are real. It also creates a risk for example. A father and daughter picture may be misused by someone & they may be seen as kissing each other by using artificial intelligence. The solution is that the the disclaimer must be given in artificial intelligence created videos that the videos which are created are not real & created by using artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence also poses great risk on the job market on the labour market as lot of jobs which are traditionally done by human beings it is very much possible that now those jobs may be done by using the artificial intelligence. Elon Musk has raised a great concern against misuse of artificial intelligence.
In India there has been growing talk of 90 hours labour per week & 70 hours work per week and that too coming from leading companies chairman like the Larsen & Tubro. Even Elon Musk gave idea of 12 hours of work everyday. There is a growing risk that labour exploitation is about to begin world over. The old colonial exploitation of labour may begin in future.
Economy wise world is still recuperating from the Corona disaster the only economy which is growing rapidly is China. Russia Ukraine war & Israel torment on Palestine has further worsened the economic situation.
Global Warming is on the rise as usual not much has been done for climate change, pollution is always rising. United Nations and the countries world over need to come together to form a peaceful world with economic development & respecting fundamental human rights, it is important remember that economic development has to come with sustainable development. At the year end There was wildfire in the United States of America the fire has not in complete control yet.
The United States of America needs to take long term measures to control the wildfire in the future. As in 2018 there was a huge wildfire in Australia and its impact reached till New Zealand. For the future new system and apparatus needs to be deployed to curb such wildfires.
In India during the Christmas celebration there was lot of talk that Christmas is not our festival and a person delivering goods by wearing Santa Claus dress was forced to remove it. It is unfortunate that in India there is growing hatred against abrahamic faiths. It is a cause of concern for the world over as traditionally India used to be secular country and ever since 2014 there has been growing hatred and attacks on minorities especially minorities practicing Abrahamic faiths. As what happened in China or Myanmar or North Korea cannot be allowed to happen in India. The United Nations and all the countries of the world need to promote religious freedom and fundamental human rights. As without fundamental human rights & freedom of conscience human being will be reduced to mere existence of machines. Indeed it is fundamental human rights that differentiate human and other beings.
In the immediate future there is not much hope for development of the present situation but all the countries need to come together for this rising above Individual state agendas what we need is global agenda as we are a global village after all.
