Naturopathy प्रार्किति प्राकृतिक LOVE AND NATURE Beloved
In today’s world of bustling and leisure free lifestyle, we humans totally forget about our precious health. Be it mental, physical or social health, we sell it in the name of “work” to earn money, resulting in an unhealthy lifestyle. However, like all the issues have a simple solution, this perilous one too has one, a very simple one – FOOD. In this essay we delve deeper into the affiliation of food and health from the perspective of Naturopathy.
Food And Health:
Like many say –
“What you eat is what you are”
The food which we eat plays a crucial role in who we are. Extending from behaviours to emotions, the food we consume defines us. A branch of Indian medicine – Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences – in short BNYS also expresses this fact. This branch of medicine evolved from ancient culture of India emphasises on healing diseases through properly examined diet plans, natural treatments and yoga without using medicines.
Ancient food culture:
Many research articles and recent studies proclaim food has been the primary source of healing from several centuries ago. In the times where the inventions of western medicine was not made, food remained the only means of curing.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
A fact stated by Hippocrates, backed by the vision of Naturopathy truly demonstrates how the ancestors have been curing disease, which can be healed within days with our technologically advanced method of medicines. Although the scientifically proven and globally accepted methods of medicine provide quick and satisfactory relief to the patients, it cannot match the standards of healing through natural means. Curing diseases through natural means like food and lifestyle changes not just promotes permanent cure to the diseases faced by patients but also provides serenity to them.
Modern food culture:
As we have seen earlier, ancient food culture had remained healthiest eradicating the need of medicine. Nevertheless, circumstances have changed. At present roughly 60% of the food consumed globally is non-organic, and contains preservatives, which is directly affecting our health in a negative way. Moreover, due to globalization, western cultured food and unhealthy foods (fast food, overprocessed, etc.) has invaded all the countries, irrespective of geographical, weather, or cultural factors resulting in the availability of wrong food at the wrong place. This discrepancy has been influencing body functions even from the metabolism rate, contribution to development of diseases. Furthermore, habits like eating at midnight and over dumping of food into our body in a quick period of time is also contributing to the degradation of our body health.
Food choices to consider:
As discussed previously, our shift of food culture from a healthy one to unhealthy one, the impacts created by it is increasing day by day. From increased frequency of getting ill to unhealthy states of emotion, all the negative influences are primarily caused by our food habits. However, things can be resolved. The realm of Naturopathy suggests that this issue can only be solved by reforming our food culture in a healthy way, by including foods such as fruits, greens, low processed, low in fat, and high in water content foods in our diet. They also recommend eating mindfully.
Conclusion:
As the quote suggests “Don’t focus on how much you eat, focus on what you eat?” what we eat really matters. From shaping our body to sharpening our mind, the food we eat is a crucial factor. The days of frequently falling ill are enough. Let’s swap our choices to stay fit and healthy! Let’s make our insides healthy to make us happy on the outside.
