A good movie works with only three essential things- Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment and a healthy earth is also successful with three vital things- Environment, Environment and Environment and that environment should be safe and cleaned. For living an entertaining life we have set all the arrangements like cinemas, television, smart phones but what about a ‘safe and healthy environment’. We did nothing for it, we just turned a ‘clean environment’ into a ‘noxious one’ which is being proved disastrous for us and we humans are responsible for it and it is a challenging task to take again that pour environment but not impossible, Yes, we can replace today’s unhealthy environment with new one which would  be hygienic and free from toxic and poisonous gases.

About World Environment Day

Trees are cut down, rivers pour water being poisonous to drink and use, plants and animals are being hunted by the human’s unethical behaviour so to save the environment from human’s cruelty, United Nations established ‘a day to preserve the nature and environment called “World Environment Day”(1972) and World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5 June. In 1974,the first ‘WED’ was celebrated and the theme was “Only one Earth”. And we’ll have to carry on these type of themes in our life.

Why do we need to celebrate this day?

Health issues

Environment is being exploited by the unlimited demands of humans, we are removing the greeny forests for the construction of building and property but how can we forget that these plants and trees give oxygen to us. The whole world knows that India is facing the problem related to shortage of oxygen in human body, thousands of people losing their life because of not getting proper amount of oxygen and the reason is deforestation. Yes, we have cut down thousands of trees and it is one of the reasons that we had to faced this problem. And it’s not enough, there are so manydiseases that occurs due to the exploitation of natural resources and covid-19 is one of them.

Addiction of technology

Can we imagine a day without using cell phone, laptop or travelling without car or scooter?. And the answer would be ’no’ because in today’s hectic life we have tied a knot with technical things because it’s very accessible but along with the merits we should also know the side effects of it. For instance, the automobileswe use cause pollution and impact the environment. Another is mobile phones, do you know that the low level of Radio- frequency(RF) radiations emitted by mobile phones could be the cause of your health problems such as eye strain, headache. And there are so many high-rated technology which are destroying our natural resources.

Worst impact on Biodiversity

Over exploitation of natural resources by humans cause negative impact on the ecosystem such as deforestation due to rapid increase in population, hunting of animals for eating and selling purpose, people burn fossil fuels, climatic change due to greenhouse gas effect ( causes drought, melting glaciers, heat waves, rise in temperature) and global warming- these all are critically impact the living species of earth.

How can we be a part of celebration of the WED?

There is no need to have a special cause to celebrate this day, we can save our environment by adding small efforts in our daily routine life.

Love the nature

Nature is like our mother that always gives us but never wants anything in return but it’s our responsibility to preserve it and take care of it as a child. Nature is so adorable and peaceful that you’ll be definitely fall in love with it, it has lots of things to give- the air we breathe, the water we drink or use, the land where we live, moreover the angelic beauties- alluring hills and mountains, classy seas, oceans, rivers and mesmeric glaciers,. So, encourage yourself and others also to love the nature and if you do the handshake with it, then it’ll hug you as a mother.

Sustainable development

The term “sustainable development” refers that use resources in present in such a way that our future generation can also enjoy those resources because resources are limited and human needs are unlimited that’s why we should also take care the coming generation while using the resources. Like, our forefathers leaved no. of trees for us but unfortunately those trees and plants being cut down and feware left. So, like them we should also conserve the natural assets that would be fruitful for the future generation. If we do this then they’ll do the same but if we refuse it then they’ll also be wasting resources like us. Teach your family, society, neighbours about urgency to save the environment.

Small contributions towards the environment

Natural resources are the magical gifts for us by the God, these delicately put their efforts to nurture the environment and we should also nourish it by giving small donations- save the water by turn off the unnecessary taps, don’t waste electricity (use long-lasting light bulbs or use solar powered products), grow trees and plantsas more as possible, use 3R’s (Reduce, Refuse, Reuse), don’t snatch the jink of forests by hunting animals, say ‘no’ to plastic – use paper or jute bags instead of polythene, reduce pollution by minimizing the usage of automobiles and bicycle, decrease the rate of health issues by reducing the utilization of gadgets , keep our holy river clean and pour, organize awareness programmes for the protection of environment and many more endeavour we can do. You would be amazed to know that a man “JadevPayeng” planted an entire forest single-handedly and he is known as “Forest Man Of India”. Of course, it is very challenging for a person to grow a whole forest but we can more trees and plants at least.

Conclusion

Now, we all are aware with the significance of environment in our life and there is an urgent need to conserve it otherwise it’ll be too late so, we all have to fight with this pandemic situation by saving our motherland.
