(This poem talks about the journey of a young woman and the social pressure and questions that still prevail in our society.)
Journey of Expectations!
The blazing fire was my witness,
Soulful music, beautiful flowers, and loud laughter were my guests,
My cheeks were red as my bangles and rouge,
My heart was thumping a roar.
Leaving my home ached my heart,
A new journey of life was ready to start.
From red bangles to now the golden ones,
I now entered my new life.
Where each face was grueling
But I passed it all with a smile.
A new journey started,
With a life inside me.
Will I be able to raise a fine child?
I was scared, and hesitant yet filled with joy,
Over the next few months,
I fought like a warrior,
Acing all of my roles
But something was missing,
Maybe my lively soul?
Drained out of energy but with a smile on my face,
I was preparing myself to see my unborn’s face.
That day finally came!
I was suffering in great pain.
My bones were breaking,
My vision was shaking.
I knocked on the door of death and made it back to life.
I heard a faint cry,
My child was in front of my eyes.
I placed my precious next to my heart.
I saw two twinkling eyes and heard the heart beating along with mine.
I was blessed!
A beautiful healthy child.
But outside, I heard a loud cry!
Doctor, is it true?
This child is not a boy?
