Jepara is a district located in Central Java. Jepara is famous for its carvings. Jepara borders directly on the Java Sea, therefore Jepara is famous as one of the areas in Central Java which has beach views that are pleasing to the eye. Unlike other northern beaches, the beaches in Jepara are superior in presenting views that are pleasing to the eye. Even the beaches in Jepara, the views are no less good than the beaches on the south coast.

Beaches in Jepara such as Karimunjawa, Kartini Beach, and Bandengan Beach are some of the beaches that are well known to the public. Apart from that, there are several underrated beaches in Jepara which are just as beautiful as the more famous ones, even some of these “underrated” beaches are still free to enter. This essay will explore into the beauty of Jepara’s beaches, highlight its most underrated coastal destinations, recommend activities to enjoy during a visit, and provide tips for tourists who wish to explore these underrated beaches.

Famous beaches such as Karimunjawa, Kartini Beach, and Bandengan Beach are widely recognized for their scenic beauty and tourist-friendly facilities. Unlike other northern beaches, Jepara’s beaches boast stunning white sand, calm waves, and a peaceful atmosphere, making them an ideal destination for relaxation and exploration. The majority of beaches in Jepara have white sand, unlike most beaches in the northern seas.

The waves on the Jepara beach tend to be calmer compared to the south coast because the beach in Jepara does not directly border the ocean but borders the Java Sea so the wind and waves on the Jepara beach are not as “violent” as those on the south coast like those on Gunung Kidul or Pacitan. Then, the entrance tickets to the beaches in Jepara are cheaper, some of them are even free. Most beaches in Jepara still tend to have few visitors so they are not too crowded, especially if the beaches are “lesser known”.

With the number of visitors, of course it will be more relaxing for those of you who want to take a break from your busy life. Visitors to this beach are mostly local residents, not tourists from distant areas, they come from Pati, Purwodadi, Kudus, to Semarang. It is very rare to find visitors from outside the area, because the majority of them choose to go to the south coast which is famous for its beautiful scenery.

Apart from that, there are several beaches in Jepara which can be said to be “underrated”, such as Pelayaran Beach, Selayar Beach, Ketapang Beach, and small beaches in Bandengan. Some beaches, some of which have difficult road access, can only accommodate two-wheeled vehicles. For cars, it is recommended to go to the cruise beach because the parking area is large enough for several four-wheeled vehicles.

On the Pelayaran beach, we can enjoy various kinds of culinary delights, there are even cafes and seblak stalls on the beach. They serve food and drinks with views of the sea water that are refreshing to the eyes. The prices tend to be cheap, unlike other tourist attractions which usually charge tourist prices. On the Pelayaran beach, the price of fried rice is less than IDR 20.000 and for those of you who like seblak, the price of seblak is also relatively cheap, namely IDR 10.000 to 15.000 per portion, depends on the varian that you order.

For drinks, its about IDR 5.000 to 15.000 in the same restaurant. For those of you who like photography, it is highly recommended to visit this beach. Apart from the view which is very pleasing to the eye, this beach is not too crowded with people. While taking photos, you can also play in the water, which is a little calmer than when playing in the water on the south beach. The waves on the beaches of Jepara are calmer than those on the south coast, except when it rains.

The other beaches like Selayar beach and Ketapang beach also serve their views as beautiful as Pelayaran beach. In Selayar beach, there is a mangrove forest. It is worth being immortalized. Meanwhile, at Ketapang beach we were pampered with sunset views with a beach environment that was very clean and still very quiet compared to other beaches. Ketapang beach is very suitable for those of you who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life, by taking photos around this beach.

For those of you who want to visit the “underrated” beaches in Jepara, it is recommended to use two-wheeled vehicles rather than four-wheeled vehicles to minimize damage to four-wheeled vehicles. If you use a four-wheeled vehicle, that’s fine, but remember, access to most of these underrated beaches is still difficult and your vehicle may have to be parked quite far from the beach and you walk from where your vehicle is parked to the beach. For those of you who want to spend the night near the beach, several beaches here have accommodation at quite affordable rates.

In conclusion, Jepara is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Central Java, offering breathtaking beach views that rival even those on the southern coast. Unlike other northern beaches, Jepara’s coastline has characteristics such as soft white sand, calm waves, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for relaxation.

Popular beaches such as Karimunjawa, Kartini Beach, and Bandengan Beach are well-known for their scenic beauty and tourist-friendly facilities, attracting visitors from nearby areas. Lesser-known beaches like Pelayaran Beach, Selayar Beach, and Ketapang Beach provide visitors with a more tranquil and authentic beach experience. These beaches offer unique attractions, from affordable seaside dining to photography spots. Some of these beaches are still free to enter, making them budget-friendly alternatives for travelers.

Although road access to certain locations may be challenging, the journey is worth it enough for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Visitors who has plan to explore these beaches should consider using two-wheeled vehicles for easier access. With its stunning coastal scenery, affordable options, and serene environment, Jepara’s beaches are a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
