Nowadays, with the rapid advancement of today’s technology many developers’ improvement the technology of fuel for its users. As an example, to be taken, which; hydrogen car and electric car. With both using today’s technology developed with hydrogen fuel and electrical energy with each having advantages and disadvantages. Let’s take a deeper look at the characteristics of hydrogen cars and electric cars in this era.

First, discuss earlier about hydrogen car. Certainly, companies and developers are familiar with hydrogen cars. Let’s take this for example, several vehicle manufacturers are starting to intensively produce and test hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, for example Toyota. This is certainly an alternative to other environmentally friendly fuels besides electricity and do not use conventional fuels such as oil which will usually cause pollution and the greenhouse effect. The characteristic of this hydrogen car uses a device called a fuel cell that requires hydrogen and oxygen gas to produce electricity, after going through a chemical reaction process in the tool. That is why hydrogen vehicles usually have a gas cylinder, which functions like the gas tank on a normal car. Besides that, hydrogen vehicles are also do not cause noise or disturb the ears of other motorists.

The first thing using a hydrogen car after the engine needs to be done is filling the fuel cell with hydrogen. With the system work going on, it mixes with the extracted oxygen, is filtered, and compressed from the outside by the compressor. With this unit, electricity and water will be produced. The most important is that the energy is transferred to the battery for storage. Even so, hydrogen cars are still categorized as electric cars because they use an electric engine and a battery like an ordinary electric car. What makes the difference is how the two types of cars get their electrical energy. According to social media internet by the Spanish Hydrogen Energy Association (AeH2), the industry anticipates that 140,000 hydrogen vehicles will be in circulation in Spain within 11 years.

Apart from being environmentally friendly and quiet, hydrogen cars have other advantages, namely; fast refuelling, it only takes 3-5 minutes to refuel a car with hydrogen. Like filling gasoline or diesel, as well as the time it takes. According to AeH2 data, the average cost of refuelling a hydrogen vehicle is 8.5 euros per 100 miles, similar to the cost of a driver of a diesel or gasoline vehicle. Furthermore, minimal maintenance compared to vehicles that use internal combustion engines, these cars have minimal engine maintenance and are much easier. By the manufacture and use of clean hydrogen in it. On the other hand, regular cars can travel an average of 300 miles on a single charge, while hydrogen cars can travel more than twice that. In certain cities, they do not have any driving restrictions, they can park in the SER zone without paying. With car performance that is almost stable and its range does not change significantly, like an electric car. Hydrogen cars can withstand extreme temperatures better.

Despite have advantages, hydrogen cars also have drawbacks. While some of the factories that make hydrogen-powered cars are working hard to bring down prices, prices tend to still be higher than electric cars. Surely, this depends on each manufacturer and each model made. The main reason for their high production costs is that they have to withstand very high pressures. Also, few gas stations for hydrogen cars. According to the National Centre for Hydrogen Energy, there are only six currently available. Which are located in Seville, Huesca, Albacete, Puertollano, Barbastro and Zaragoza. Hereinafter, the few variations of the model made and the components in the vehicle take up more space.

Second, discuss about electric car. Electric car itself is a car that is driven by electrical energy stored in a battery or other energy storage. Electric cars were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but their popularity waned as gasoline became cheaper. Electric cars have several advantages over conventional fuel-powered cars. In particular, the most important thing is that electric cars do not produce motorized vehicle emissions.

In addition, electric cars do not require fossil fuels as their prime mover and also reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Globally, not only in Indonesia, electric cars are environmentally friendly cars. As previously stated, that electric cars do not produce motorized vehicle emissions. An electric car is an agile car that has instant torque when you step on the accelerator pedal. With the sound of the engine that is not noisy, and tends to be quiet. This is very advantageous for those who are sensitive to some of the sounds generated. In addition, minimal maintenance, and low taxes for electric car users.

Besides that, electric cars also have drawbacks. Almost the same as the lack of a hydrogen car, but there are several aspects that differentiate. Electric cars use batteries, and it takes time to restore battery life. This is a shortage of electric cars. In addition, the price of the battery is expensive.
