Lessons Young
Today, our planet Earth is facing many serious environmental problems. Air is becoming polluted, water become dirty, forests are disappearing, and our climate is changing fast. These problems affect everyone including animals and plants. If we don’t take action, the future will be more difficult, especially for the younger generation. Young people like teenagers and students are very important because they will lead the world in the future.
Big Environmental problems are the main reason. Air Pollution is one of the problems. Factories, vehicles, and power plants release harmful gases into the air. These gases can make people sick. Some suffer from breathing problems, and animals and plants also struggle to survive. In cities, the sky often looks grey because the air is dirty
Water pollution is very bad and must be stopped. Plastic, oil, and chemicals are being dumped into rivers, lakes, and oceans. This pollution is killing fish and sea creatures. People cannot use or drink this water safely, and farmers also face problems when they use polluted water for crops.
Trees are being cut down quickly due to deforestation to make space for farming or buildings. Trees clean the air and give homes to many animals. Without enough trees, the air becomes dirty, and the planet gets warmer.
Plastic is used every day, but it is not easy to break down. It stays in the environment for hundreds years. When we throw away plastic bags or bottles, they often end up in the oceans. Sea animals can eat plastic by mistake and die because of it.
The future belongs to the young people. If the environment continues to get worse, they will be the ones to face the consequences. But they also have the power to make change. Students and teenagers learn fast and can share knowledge with their families, schools, and communities. They can do many things to save the mother planet “Earth”
Firstly, Learn and Share. Young people can read books, attend workshops, and follow environmental news. They can then teach others about the problems and how to solve them. This spreads awareness and encourages action.
Second, Say No to Plastic. Instead of using plastic bags, youth can carry cloth ones. They can reuse water bottles and avoid plastic straws and cutlery. These small habits help reduce pollution.
Third, plant more trees. Trees clean our air and make places beautiful. Students can plant trees around their schools or in their neighbourhoods. Organizing tree-planting events can also bring people together.
Fourth, recycle and reuse every time you get the chance. Items like bottles, paper, and cans can be recycled instead of thrown away. Young people can turn old things into useful items—like pencil holders made from cans. Reusing helps limit waste.
Fifth, join clean-up events. Many cities have clean-up days for parks, rivers, or beaches. Students can help by picking up trash and encouraging others to keep public places clean.
Sixth, use bicycles and public transport every single day. Cars pollute the air. Walking, biking, or taking the bus is better for nature. It also improves health and saves money.
The last and the most important, Speak Out. Young people should use their voices. They can write essays, speak at school functions, and contact community leaders to demand action. Around the world, youth movements are creating real change. Young people can inspire big change when they care and take action.
For example, In India, students planted trees in villages to stop desert growth. In Sweden, Greta Thunberg started a youth protest for climate change. In Kenya, children cleaned up a polluted river and got adults involved too. Young people like them can help the environment so why can’t we?
My mother country which is Myanmar also has environmental challenges like plastic pollution and tree cutting. Students in places can lead clean-up events, reduce waste during local festivals, and promote recycling at home. Online campaigns in local languages can help spread messages to a wider audience. Youth groups working with local leaders or environmental organizations can make a real impact.
In conclusion, Environmental problems are serious, but not impossible to solve. Young people have great ideas, energy, and influence. Every small step—refusing plastic, planting trees, or educating others—makes a difference. The future depends on the choices we make today. It’s time for youth to lead and become the heroes that our planet needs.
