Haunting Call

At the haunting call of the wild stood I,
A fool at the mercy of the world.
‘Tis such a lunacy, I cried though my words stood blind.
And again and again, I run to the dark.
Outside it rains, and my skin feels the heat,
For I was running, running away so that no one could chase me ever.
Somewhere far, inside an innocent house,
Sat my father and mother dear, waiting for me to come home.
My eyes blur with tears, so hot, so warm, so chastised.
And overthinking about everything that I’d ever known,
Overwhelmed me so much that I lost.
Lost all the baffling battles against life.
My terrors dance agonisingly on my mind,
They steal away all my rhythm and tune,
And the innocence that I’d held so close to me,
Which was alas! So lost by now.
The wilderness calls me and I answer,
For I couldn’t take it anymore,
Not the hurt or the excruciating pain,
Nor the bland blood that rests in my mouth.
The metallic taste overpowers me,
As I give a final push, and run,
Run with all my might,
Into the dark deep woods.
