CAGED

(This poem represents an individual who has great ambition and can do anything to achieve it, but as soon as they achieve those desires, they realize that they are trapped in their cage of ambition forever and the fact that their dreams, in reality, are so brutal brings them into a situation where they feel like giving up.)

Million pieces, my soul is broken into

And each piece has its own tale.

But, when I try to bind these pieces together,

The needle that weaves,

The thread that mends,

Stabs my heart!

It makes me bleed a thousand times,

Opening my wounds,

Each time giving me a new scar.

Now, to mend or to leave?

I merely can’t decide.

The weight of this question heavies my heart!

Makes me wonder.

Is it the life that I dreamed and prayed for?

Is someone pulling my strings?

Why? Oh! Why those merry dreams are a mournful reality?

Why me, once a free bird, now caged in my trance?

So tired! I wish to give up.

But this will!

Oh, this will! Stays in my heart, whispers

That someday, a key I shall discover.

Open my cage,

It shall make me free!

It whispers again!

So, wait for that morning sunshine.

That bright North Star, to pave the way!

It will lead to a place where,

You shall be, the person you used to be

Again!
