Beyond the Plate
In this era of rapid science advancement, the most profound determinant of the health of the creatures behind all this, does not lie in pharmaceuticals but amazingly in the scrumptious flavors in our dinner plates. Yes, Humans, undoubtedly the most valuable creatures ever found in this universe have certain needs which keep them alive and in them above all is the necessity of food.
Basically, Food is defined as any substance that a living organism consumes to get nutritional support and energy. Most people would generally understand what basically ‘food’ can be defined as but there would be many people who would still question to the term nutrients or nutritional support. Nutrients refer to the chemical substances found in food that are essential for the body to function, similarly, nutritional support refers to the energy we’re receiving through the nutrients.
All these science advancements and uncountable discoveries each day are linked to the well-being and the health of the mankind and unbelievingly the health is linked directly to what is served to you on your dinner plates. Now comes the question how?
The whole of mankind has some needs that require to be fulfilled in order to live; food and water lies above all. It is crystal clear that no man born on earth can live without food and water. Now comes the point that why do we, the humans, suffer diseases if we get enough food and nutrition to our body. Food is of two kinds; one that is of good quality and one that is of not of proper standard and can damage our nutrition system (that allows our food to be digested and moved to different parts of our body). Food is co-related to the way we perform in life, for instance, certain diseases are produced in the human body merely caused by the bad quality of food which effects your way of living as it causes a break of flow in your daily living, for example, you have to take off days at your job if you do one.
Talking of diseases, lets have a look on the temporary and lifetime diseases caused by food if not of proper standard. Yes, you heard right, lifetime diseases. Even excess of food can lead to diseases, diabetes is a common lifetime disease caused by excessive consumption of food. Excessive intake of sugar can highly increase the chances of catching the type 2 diabetes.
No proper diet can also result in getting heart diseases which can also be life-taking later on. These diseases cause extreme pressure on the patient as it carries the burden of high-cost medicines which not everyone can afford. Some temporary diseases one can get foodborne illnesses (caused by contamination with bacteria, viruses, or parasites) and chronic diseases (resulting from long-term poor nutrition from diets high in sugar, unhealthy fats, and low in essential nutrients).
It takes us back to the original question that how our dinner plate controls our life and how we perform in our daily life. All the points above clearly define how significant it is for one to control his diet and focus on his nutrient intake. In nutshell, a human body has certain needs to perform to its limit and all this revolves around what we eat.
